onboard video vs. card

nothing is wrong with your system, dont throw in either of your two old cards, they are both worse than your onboard I'd wager, at least in most app's. The 9800 non-se looks to be a solid buy and would fit nicely with your system, I also agree with 5700, 5900, or 9600xt as they are all solid...

Big difference between a TI4200 and TI4600?

i wouldnt get anything higher than a Ti4200 if you are going budget, look for a 9700 or higher in radeons, or maybe Nvidia 5700 and higher, anything lower is usually just crap and wont run the games you wanted to run that cant run on a Ti4200 anyway. If someone has a 9700pro for under $100 show...

Video Card in the $200 Range

if you wanna spend around $200 and the 9800pro is 195 thats a perfect match, or maybe you can just get a 9800xt or 9800 for less as they say, but i wouldnt pay another 50% of a product price for negligible performance gains in the vast majority of things.

Barton overclocking

if your going overclockable xp's and want a cheap but fast system go with any of the 2500+ and up that will do 400fsb for at least 2200mhz or go with a mobile 2400+ for the same thing basically. hell im sure any of the xp's 2400+ and up will at least get somewhere to 2.4-5 Ghz if you guys are...

anyway... I belive: #1 anandtech shouldve maybe ran some more tests on doom with much crappier systems, not everyone has 1gig ram and super vid cards with fast hds and everything else. From what I see, anyone with an ati 9500+128mb+ is laughing as theyve had the best deal and 9800 anything...
