:frown: Hey I've been waiting for a thread like this to come up. I thought it was just my joystick but I have the same problem as you guys. I had an old K6-2 450 system and upgraded the mobo and the CPU but left everthing else the same. Same story, mine will work in emulated mode but won't...
Thanks littleprince. That's what I have done already and what creates the beep pause beep. Is there such a thing as a virus that can infect the bios? Just trying to eliminate all avenues at the moment. Will the old VX board except 2 X 64Mb SIMMS? Just a thought as I have two 8Mb SIMMS and two...
The time machine maybe needed to go back to the days of this old Intel VX Mobo and P100 as a clue to the tune it sings when I attempt to boot it up eludes me. The single long beep followed by a pause and then another etc just seems pretty sad and very close the continuous long beep of a...
Hawk: Generally becuase I haven't seen any SDR versions.. They all seem to be 64Mb DDR and that adds heaps to the price. It may be a good card ( I haven't seen one cranked up yet) but at that price I'd rather throw in a P3 850. It's bang for your buck for me and the MX give's a pretty good bang...
Get this people. So far here in Australia I have not seen any Radeon card for under AUD$650.00!!!
Most MX Cards are under AUD$280.00...It's as you would say a no brainer here.;)So it's a MX SDR for me and anything out today has got to be better than my old V3 2K! Pretty SAD about 3dFX on it's...
The issue is that Intel hates Slotket cards and unless they certify it for use on your Mobo then you are screwed even if there is no question that it was a faulty CPU. They asked me to get proof from AOpen that the ABit Slotket!!! is certified to work on thier slot 1 mother boards. Yea right...
OK it's seems I really have given myself an apt nick name. Funny that!:D
Hey we live and learn and I agree with all of you. And I will take yours and my own advise and lie my ass off next time!! ah heck it!!!!
Thanks guys for reminding me I really can be Brain Dead sometimes!!!:o
It seems that this is one of the untold stories of the PC hardware market. It is widely known that Intel does not entirely support the use of Slot 1 converter cards but will stand by it's warranty if the CPU proves to have been faulty. Here is the catch.. Intel will only stand by it's warranty...
Thanks guys I though my PC was turning into a cook top. Just one thing though I can't seem to find "Try flashing with the new 1006 BIOS from the Asus FTP site." BIOS 1006 doesn't seem to exist unless it's hiding. White Widow can you please get me the link. The rubbish temps I'm getting...
I just got a c466 P3V4X combo and tried to O'C it to 525Mhz and was completely freaked out by the huge temp fluctuations. While running 3D Mark 2000 it would start at 34C and very rapidly shoot up to 60C setting off the CPU temp alarm and alarming me as well.
I've got the retail Intel HS on it...
Bean Crusher: We all had to start somewhere and there are plenty of PC hardware sites out there but you couldn't have a better start that right here on AnandTech. There are extencive reviews on all types of PC hardware and I suggest you start reading. Try Toms Hardware as well as a second...
Well if you have a P233 it's a socket 7 CPU and there is no way a PIII is going to work with your current setup. You need to buy a whole new system if want a PIII. Completely different setup although you could probably re-use the old Hard Disk, monitor and maybe even the mouse but the rest has...
