New laptop hard drive

I am going to have some extra money and I want to upgrade my laptop. The harddrive is a measly 80 gb @ 4200 rpm. It is the bottleneck of the system. My question is would it be more beneficial to get say a 100gb @ 5400 or something like 80gb @ 7200. I would like as much size as possible, but im...

A buddy of mine is trying to set up an ftp server. Except only one person is able to get a directory listing. Everyone else gets a time out error. any ideas?

Laptop won't boot.

Yeah, so my friends laptop wont boot up. It gives the "non-system disk error, replace and press any key message", however there is no floppy disk in the drive. I have tried changing the boot order to start with the HDD or even the cd drive using Knoppix, but it still gives the error message. Is...

linux noob here, easy build to learn/install please

Try Beatrix. It comes as a 200mb live cd. But you can install it to your harddrive. It has been the first distro that installed perfectly the first time with no problems. Definately worth a glance.

Cyberhome DVD Burner

Thanks for all the help. I have another question though. What happened to all the NON- dual layer burners? I dont burn movies that often so it would be better for me to get a normal one. However, nobody sells them.
