Help with laptop repair

I have a gw laptop about 2 years old that has a bad ac jack on it. There are no shops in or around Danville Va 24541 to use. It ran fine for about 2 hours after the surge hit it that wiped out the adapter and the jack, so it runs fine. I can get the power adapter no problem, but need a place...

Recommendation for wireless network card - PCI

I have a generic comp geek network card, but when tha pc goes to screen saver or after a couple of hours of inactivity, the connection is lost and you have to reboot. I need a good card to stay up all the time. I have a b router - 3com. I have a netgear card that stays up all the time...

Laptop dead?? - Presario 700

My cousin has this laptop and he went to turn it on and all that happens is the light comes on, but no sound, no motor sounds like the hdd, no sight from the monitor or an external monitor. The battery seems to charge up now, but nothing happens but a green light after you press the button...

Thanks for the advice, I do need to use his drive as the main one. I have a mobo that I dug off the back of the self with a 500 cely, but the mobo supports up to one ghz. It is the only mobo that is intel based that I have. If it does not work, maybe I could put something in the fs section to...

GW 9300 Batteries - Can they be fixed?

I have two gateway 9300 series laptops and both have bad batteries. The ones from gw are like 150, so x2= 300.00. Ebay is 100+ a piece, so. Question: Can you buy/replace the cells in the bad batteries or send them off to cheaper place to fix them or is there anywhere else to buy laptop...

XP SP2 issue. After upgrade, ?I cannot get the wireless PCI card to work!!

Should I attempt Win2k on a Celeron 300 w/ 64MB ram?

You really should try to have 128 mb, if not it will work ok, but it will be a little slower than w98se. It has been my experience that without good avg and adware/spybot and running/updating them, it does not take long before they all get hosed up, regardless of the operating system.
