Router Or Gateway

WCG200 from Linksys would be the all in 1 unit solution. Never used it, but I have had few problems with their stuff. I'm sure other companies make simliar products.

Question Concerning Linksys Vonage Hardware

Just hook that vonage router into any available network port on your Linksys. It will work fine. Mine does.

VONAGE!

Has worked flawlessly for me for over a year. I really have no complaints at all. The only time I see problems is when I'm doing a massive File transfer from work to home or the other way around and I get a phone call at the same time. Call seems as if there is a short delay until the FT is done.

Finding a Program's Local Port

since I dont' know exactly what you are looking for, I suggest you go to a freeware/sharware search site like tucows and just search for network port monitoring and find one that features the type of info you like. There are literally hundreds of them.

By law, how long are network admins. supposed to keep logs?

I work for a national retalier and we do 7 years. I know of no law, I always assumed that the 7 years was having to do with credit card transactions how long debts are allowed to appear on credit reports... 7 years. I could be wrong though.

Evil Comcast

While I don't recommend "borrowing" anybody's internet service without their permission even if they are stupid enough to leave it out there for all to grab, I would suggest Linksys cable modems over Motorolla. I have had my Linksys for at least 4 years now at home and it still just keeps on...

Finding a Program's Local Port

You just need to run a network monitor program to monitor your ports while you use the program you have in question. There are several out there that are freeware or shareware. you can also try just dropping to a command prompt in windows and typing netstat -b

Assuming you have ethernet network cards in both machines, just run a cross over ethernet cable between the two and share a folder on each machine. Should work very easily.

LPT only printer to desktop 50' away

Fardringle, I like your idea on the wireless print server but I do not know of one that is made with an LPT port. All the ones I have seen are USB only. I'm not sure if using a LPT to USB converter in that scenario would work. Do you know of such a product with an LPT port...
