@us3rnotfound
I may have left out a critical piece of information when you mentioned HDMI/DVI. Both these monitors are connected via Displayport. Does your question still apply for a DP connection? If so, is Standard the maximum range option for 4:4:4 and does that mean RGB is a better option...
I've been looking to upsize my main display from a Dell U3415W to a 4K monitor. I also wanted a larger monitor, but didn't want to spend a fortune, so I started looking at 4K TVs. That's when I started to learn more about the output color format, and people were adamant about 4:4:4 @ 60 hz on TV...
I also talked to a dell chat rep. He didn't give me PCIe SSD speeds, said it was a dell-branded SSD. Manufactured by WD or Samsung. I didn't know WD was in the PCIe SSD game.. interesting to hear.
If the latest Macbook Retina Pro 15 has a PCIe SSD (no NVMe support at that) that has 2 GB/s and...
I know it just released today, so I can't find any details on the SSD version. I'm hoping it's the Samsung SM951 NVMe version...I wish.
Edit: i hope the mobo supports NVMe for the PCIe m.2 slot, and not AHCI.
Now that you get even more battery life with the skylake processors, maybe that 1440p is worth it? I dunno what your acceptable range of battery life is. I have the XPS 13 9343 with 1080p. It lasts me a good 8-10 hours on basic computing (80% web browsing 20% video playback).
@Termie
Just shooting in the dark now, but when I was deciding on GTX 970s back in March, I was doing research and found out about the coil whine issues. So I made it an effort to get the later iteration of 970 if possible, hence the 04G-P4-3975-KR. No coil whine issue.
I'm trying some gaming...
Yeah, I appreciate how EVGA did me a solid. I've stuck with EVGA since GTX 260 in 2008. I've heard their customer support took a dip since then, but I'm glad I've experienced nothing but great support!
@Techhog @Termie
I just called EVGA tech support. They linked me to the same link as Post #3 as incompatibility issue.
They did admit it would be confusing for a first time SLI-er, and they would upgrade me the correct GTX 970 for SLI free of charge.
@Techhog
It does seem a little scummy, doesn't it? I didn't even consider that different versions of GTX 970 of the same brand would be incompatible with each other...
The mobo same is correct: Asus P8Z77-V LK
It is SLI capable per the manual. The LX version of this mobo is not SLI capable. I'm still under the impression that it won't work per Post #3. That link says:
"There are three versions of the GTX 970: A blower-style cooler with a short circuit...
I've recently started using PIA VPN, but I don't have alot of technical knowledge with VPN. But from what I understand, when the VPN client is enabled on my machine, the machine should no longer be able to access my LAN. The only inconveniences are when I play online games and LAN-printer...
Got another GTX 970 on a whim when it was recently on sale to try out SLI for the first time. My SLI options show up in Nvidia Control Panel, but they're all greyed out.
Mobo is Asus P8Z77-V LK, using top two PCIe x16 slots. Link for reference of mobo slots, asus bridge, and greyed out SLI...
@Jovec
It was just a standard windows update within Win 8.1. Didn't see what it needed to update, just saw that the computer needed to update windows prior to restart. But after update was completed, when it restarted and bitlocker p/w screen came up, my p/w is now showing up as incorrect...
