Hard Drive whines

Hmm that's weird, it's about 14.1 gb by Maxtor, got it with my system about 2 years ago. I don't know the speed but when I checked properties under device manager it says "Maxtor 5 SCSI Disk Drive" I always thought it was an IDE drive...maybe I should take a look on the label and see what it says.

Screen flickering

My ICQ flickers ever since I installed Windows XP. I read somewhere that the refresh rates had to be changed, do I change it to a lower rate or higher rate?

Just bought a monitor...

Just bought a monitor...

I just bought a used Dell P780 flat screen, but the lady at the store gave me a NEC FE700 instead. I paid about $100 US ($160 Cdn). Also, there are 2 small lines across the screen, one about 1/3 down the screen and 1 about 1/3 up the screen. Should I keep the NEC or return it and get the...

Quiet Case (I'm talking damn near silent)

If you want quiet you should be looking for db's of around 20/21 not <30. Panaflo L1A's are pretty quiet and cheap for case or cpu fans. You can also mod an old power supply with a Panaflo to make it quiet (that's what I did). Keep in mind hard drives make noise too - so a Seagate Barracuda...

Get a Zalman case bracket. www.zalmantech.com There are a couple going on ebay also. It holds the fan in place from the case but doesn't touch the HS so no vibrating noise. You can also use a bigger fan.

Need absolutely silent components

I bought a Zalman HS and fan and it is virtually noiseless as they claim. When I stop and let the fan run I can't tell the diff. If you want you can try replacing the PSU fan with a Panaflo, that's what I did. It will lower the noise considerably, but there will be a very quiet hum, not very...

In search of peace & quiet....'serenity now'......

Check out www.zalmantech.com They are definetly quiet in noiseless mode, but performance is not the greatest.

Power Supply Fan CFM

I replaced my PSU fan with a Panflo L1A, just wondering how much CFM should the fan push, is the Panaflo good enough? The air coming out is just about as hot as it was before after extended periods of use. But if I need to, I will refrain from using it extensively.
