I'm running v1.1d BIOS. According to ECS it "Improve SATA HDD function" so I flashed it. Running great so far.
I'm just starting to overclock this board. The A64 OC thread here on AT is nice and Gogar's Optimizer. Right now I'm at 10xCPU, 4x220HTT, 200Mem to get 2.2GHz but I know this...
Is anybody overclocking this mobo with SATA drives? Which SATA ports are you using? I read posts about SATA ports 1&2 tracking the HT or FSB clock whereas ports 3&4 are locked to a specific frequency regardless of overclocking.
Unfortunately I read all this after putting the system...
Had to bring this one back to say thanks. I went through a lot of forums trying to figure out the "windows hangs after loading mup.sys" after a clean Windows install.
My situation is a little different in that I am trying to RAID two Western Digital WD2500KS SATA2 drives on a ECS KN1...
Well, it still does the same thing after re-cloning the XPPro partition.
I compared the bootlog.txt file of my original drive and the new drive and it looks like some drivers are not loading. How can XP only find some of the drivers when it's looking at the same boot drive?!?!?
Have a 60GB drive with 2 partitions:
1st: 10GB with Win98SE
2nd: 50GB with WinXPPro
Bought a new 160GB drive and made 2 partitions, 30GB and 130GB. Norton Ghost seemed to clone the partitions just fine. Original drive as MASTER, new drive as SLAVE. All the data looks like it is there...
Have you installed nVidia 41.09 or higher drivers lately? Sounds like you've run into Nvidia 41.09 disables *all* dvd playback when non-Macrovision tv chip is present. I went back to 40.72 drivers for my Visiontek GF3 Ti200 card.
You can also change your adapter to a generic Microsoft SVGA in the Display control panel, reboot then run the install package from the nvidia site? Removing the old drivers as Mem mentioned would force you to use some other driver as well.
I'll second this. I just sent a drive back last week using Maxtor's Advance RMA. They do not charge your CC as long as you return the bad drive within 30 days. And as cmf21 stated, you get to use the box they sent your replacement drive in. It is a very nice return system.
See the following thread at DVDTalk:
Nvidia disables *all* dvd playback when non-Macrovision tv chip is present I am digitalmanAZ in the thread.
Is this old news around here? I searched for macrovision, 40.72, 41.09 and didn't find anything. Can anyone point to company or news sites that...
Definitely send it back. You can check on their website to see if it's still under warranty by entering some info from the drive. I just got done rebuilding my system after a 60GB Maxtor reported SMART errors and started making clunking noises.
Maxtor will ship you a drive in advance if you...
Right, understood. Sorry if the reply came across the wrong way. I was trying to say that I haven't looked at or modified the HOST files before and agree that I need to look at them.
