I've come back after a few months to see how this 2 x 512MB RAM not working at 200MHz issued is going with the K8NS Pro.
I see now that I wasn't the only one with the problem.
I made several post several months back about this in this thread and Here but found no resolution.
I ended up...
Thanks for the explanation.
Can I ask if you can remember whether you could run you motherboard with one stick of memory in either Slot1, 2 or 3? I can only get mine to work with memory installed in Slot 1. This also seems very strange and indicative of either a hardware problem or just...
OK
Seems that the reason I can not run 2x512MB double sided DDR400 RAM on my K8NS Pro is because of an undocumented limitation of the motherboard.
Despite contacting Gigabyte who could not give me a straight answer, I was pointed to the Kingston website which has the following info on the...
Hey ajac,
Just got it to work, although I ain't to impressed with what you need to do.
I booted to CMOS with one stick of RAM (Slot1)
Set Max Memclock to 133MHz.
Saved. Rebooted.
Shutdown.
Mobo now has Memclock at 133.
Installed second stick of RAM (Slot2)
Mobo boots up normally...
I hope this is not the case:
However we are not the only ones it seems.
same problem
same guy, different RAM
more
So what is it really:
a) a (known documented) design fault that is common to all K8NS Pro
b) something we are doing wrong (eg. wrong BIOS)
c) we just happen to...
An update on the situation: I have tried two modules of another brand of RAM and the same problem exists.
Conclusion: Definitely motherboard based.
Discussion continued Here.
rogelio, sounds like you can help but I am sorry, I don't completely understand what happened to your...
PreOmegaZero,
I am using bios F9.
You seem to be suggesting that this is the way it is with the K8NS Pro!!???
What the F? Gigabyte release a motherboard with BIOS updates that don't let you use 2 sticks of RAM? Surely this can't be the case.
If this is the case, then we all should...
Hello,
I can not get anymore than one module of memory to work on my Gigabyte K8NS Pro motherboard (nForce 3 250 chipset).
I have two sticks of 512MB DDR400 RAM. If I put both modules into either Slot 1&2, 1&3 or 2&3, the PC doesn't even boot up.
Using just one RAM module only works if...
Umm...on the surface they have different brands, but take away the labelling and they are basically look identical.
One is "PQI" brand RAM. The other is labelled as "PH".
They look like they are from the same supplier (hence same looking board/chips etc) but different labeling.
I once...
Netopia,
Thanks for your advice. However I have tried it and it does not work.
I have tried
Slots 1&2 at 200MHz and 166Mhz Maxmemclock
Slots 1&3 at 200Mhz and 166Mhz Maxmemclock
Slots 2&3 at 200Mhz Maxmemclock
The PC either halts after displaying the graphics card info, sometimes...
Hello all!
I am new this forum and I am perplexed at all the problems people seem to be having with the K8NS Pro.
My specs are:
GA-K8NS Pro (F9)
AMD Athlon 64, 2000 MHz (10 x 200) 3000+ (Newcastle S754)
6600GT graphics card
I have not attempted any overclocking on either the CPU...
