I feel like Google knows way too much about me already, so I prefer to use OpenDNS at 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.

Monitor color temperature

Abit IP35-E Problem, No POST

I have the exact same problem as ohfreak - I moved my computer down into the basement (it's cold down here), and now my computer takes about 4 minutes to POST. I'm pretty sure it takes that long to warm up the interior of the case to the point that the board (IP35) comes back to its senses.

I just purchased an x-fi xtreme music the other day. I installed the drivers just fine, but when I rebooted the "Found New Hardware wizard" showed up. For some reason, the drivers were no longer loaded, and Windows can't find the correct driver either. In the device manager, the card shows up as...

XP keys only work with certain discs/versions?

Thanks for the replies everybody. I ended up just downloading an XP pro OEM iso. After I installed using the downloaded image, I used the legit key and activated with MS over the internet like normal, and I'm good to go. I'm not sure if I broke any laws obtaining the iso this way, but I don't...

Shared Networked HDDs

IIRC, the review I read in PC Mag was generally positive. However, they did go out of their way to mention that the performance wasn't great. If that's not a concern for you, then I say go for it since it's pretty economical. cheers, dave

What sound card should I go with?

I can really tell a huge difference between the ALC888 onboard sound on my old 775dual-vsta and my audigy2. There's a huge difference in music playback quality, and I prefer to have the hardware accellerated positional audio in games that discrete sound cards offer. I do have to admit...

prime95 stable but Company of Heroes causes lockup

I didn't make any changes to the graphics settings in the game. However, I'm guessing no DX10 features would even be selectable since I have a DX9 card. I'm guessing the extra northbridge voltage did the trick. Perhaps it's possible that stressing the pci-e bus in addition to cpu and ram was...

prime95 stable but Company of Heroes causes lockup

I ended up bumping up the voltage on my cpu by one notch, and the northbridge voltage by two notches. Haven't had any stability issues in CoH or otherwise since. I'm curious whether it was the cpu or northbridge that was the problem..... but not enough that I want to lower the voltages enough...

I'm trying to make sure my video card isn't overheating, but I can't monitor the temp while playing CoH at the same time. Does anybody know if there's a way to log gpu temps to file somehow? Either through ATI drivers or a 3rd party app? Thanks for the replies everybody!

prime95 stable but Company of Heroes causes lockup

I'm currently running the ram at SPD timings and 1.9v (the voltage it's rated for). It failed prime95 almost immediately at 1.8v, so I thought I fixed it by bumping it up to 1.9v. Do you think I should bump it up again to 2.0v? As far as the videocard goes, I can't swap it out as I don't...
