Win98 or SE?

Win98 or SE?

How do I tell if a system is running Win98 or SE? Seems like if it's running SE, it should say so in the General tab of system properties - is this not the case? The system I was looking at, the guy swore up and down that he's running 98SE, but the general tab in system properties didn't say...

What makes the Win98 CD bootable?

Not much in the way of details here...it's a simple enough question I guess. Objective - I'd like to make a CD that's bootable like the Win98 CD is; put it in the drive, flip the switch and it boots to DOS or whatever. Then all my diagnostics and tools are availible to a computer, even if it...

Should be simple...but I can't figure it.

View>Encoding font type is Western European (windows). I tried changing it, no effect. Also, I can see that if a page is in JapaneseI may not see the font, but my wizards? I think it's a windows setting, not specific to IE. Thanks for the tip though. B

Should be simple...but I can't figure it.

I'm having trouble with fonts...recently, some things on my PC show up in a font that's either set as too small, or not recognized or something...I copied and pasted what I'm seeing...hopefully, you can see it the way I do...most of the text is small boxes instead of text. This happens on some...

can't delete files...

Tried booting into DOS using a DOS 6.0 floppy. Boots fine into a:> but c: is not a valid drive specification, neither is d: or e:, my DVD and CDR drives. Three finger solute, and 10 seconds later, I'm back in windows (without floppy in drive), so I know the drives are all fine... Any other ideas?

can't delete files...

The CD was not left in the drive after I burned the fonts to it. I also tried burning them to a second CD, they went onto the new CD, but still wouldn't delete. I have since moved the files to another directory, C:\Fonts...to get them out of the way.

can't delete files...

I turned my laptop on the other day (running WinXP Home) and it shows me this bubble saying that there are files waiting to be written to the CDR. I opened the folder, to find that the files were left-overs from a CD I'd burnt the night before. I tried to delete them from the "CD Burning"...

The system's a P3 650. I had it at 910MHz for a long time, about a year, but since rebuilding it, I'm running it at default speed until I get some more active cooling in this case. Here are the rest of the specs: P3 650 Asus P3V4X 512MB Mushkin High performance PC133 Adaptec SCSI controller...

IE locks up

Since rebuilding my system in a new case, I've started having trouble with Internet Explorer locking up. It locks at random times, usually between 5 and 15 minutes, not allowing me to click anything. If I mouse over the "X" in the upper right of the window, or the desktop icon on...
