Try booting from the floppy drive then running Ghost using the -fni switch... i.e.
a:\ghost.exe -fni
I was able to make an image of my existing IDE drive to a new SATA drive this way.
I ran into a similar issue trying to Ghost an IDE drive to a SATA Raid 0 config. Try booting into DOS then running Ghost using the -fdsp switch. The command line should be:-
A:\ghost.exe -fdsp
