Allright, it might not be the motherboard nor the power supply, but the RAM! I have 4 GB of 800 MHz GEIL memory, and while it has a sticker on it specifying 1.8 Volt, I checked their website and was surprised to find out it's specified for 1.9 - 2.4 Volt. So I increased the voltage to 2.2 in...

Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6 POST issues

I ended up bying an ASUS P5Q Deluxe. It booted up fine... till I had to restart due to a driver update. Again it restarted several times before POST-ing succesfully. I think my heart skipped a beat, or two. Could you all post your power supply specifications? Thanks a bunch.

This morning my system didn't want to boot at all (constant restart). :Q The issue definitely seems to be getting worse. I replaced the power supply with my old one, and after two tries it did start up properly. Then I switched back to the new power supply and the system started booted...

Hi all, My system behaves kinda strangely. After pressing the power button the fans rev up and just when you expect to see a POST screen it shuts down, only to restart a second later and do the same thing all over. Only when I leave it off for a while, it does the restart just once and...

Thanks for the link but it's not exactly the same. I just need a date to decise whether or not I'll wait, while that thread is more concerned about future socket compatibility. I want one as soon as it's available, that's not the question. But I'll buy a 1000$ Penryn if it's still a full 6...

I had an AC3 front panel plugged in when I booted the board for the first time. But I unplugged it for the Windows XP installation and still didn't get a sign of functioning hardware. Anyway, I'll probably just buy an X-Fi sound card...

I installed Windows XP on a separate partition, but still could't get the sound working... Does that mean the hardware is broken or does anyone still have a last idea left that I could try? Thanks for all the help.

Thank you! As far as I know the UAA driver is for XP only. Vista should already have it built in. That's why the Gigabyte driver page does not list a UAA driver for Vista. It's dissapointing that the latest Windows is still not free of driver problems. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet...

Thanks for the information. I'd rather not reinstall Windows though, since this is a development system with quite a bit of software on it and many personal configurations (it costs me two whole days to become productive again). I tried Driver Cleaner 1.5, which was able to remove all Realtek...

Hi all, I recently got a Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6, and while I'm quite pleased with this board I haven't been able to get a single tone out of my speakers yet. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit (not a fresh install), and in the taskbar it tells met that "No Audio Output Device is installed"...
