13inch laptop w/backlit keyboard?

The new Apple MacBook Pro 13" has a backlit keyboard. And while it has a glossy, not a matte, screen, it's LED lit and bright enough to overcome even outdoor daylight. And a killer 7 hr battery as well. Running Windows XP or Vista on it isn't a problem either if OS X isn't your cup of tea.

LG L246W

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but just today I bought an LG L246W display. I've been putting it through its paces for the last couple of hours. I must say this is the nicest looking display I've ever owned. Sharper and brighter than any Dell, Apple or Viewsonic display I've ever had...

Apple OS X vs Vista

I'm a chronic OS switcher... Went from MacOS 9 to Windows 2000 to MacOS X, and I'm now rapidly drifting on to Windows Vista. OS 9 crahsed constantly, so the stability of Win2K was wonderful. The slickness of OS X won me over from 2K/XP. And Vista is actually pulling me back from OS X. I...

Vista, Microsoft OneCare and Windows Defender

I'm using Vista Ultimate retail and I installed Microsft OneCare about a week or so ago. I've today noticed that Windows Defender is deactivated. Should Vista's Windows Defender be on or off when OneCare is present? Since OneCare includes spyware detection, I'm not sure if running both is...

Legal for the retail versions, but I think it does go against the license agreement for the OEM versions.

Yeah. I've read the same thing. The biggest deal with his computer was that he had three 20" (4:3) displays on it. One he said he keeps Outlook up on at all times. The other two he uses for IE (I expect he's not a Firefox user), Word, Excel and other various applications. He was interviewed...

3 weeks of nightmare of why I won't be using Vista

One solid week of using Vista Ultimate (x86) without a single problem, except for one program I need for work (stupid ActiveX-based application that hooks in to IE6 and doesn't yet work with IE7). I keep a small XP install on a separate drive for this app.

Nvidia might decide to support its products

Good. I have a perfectly good nForce-2 based AthlonXP 3200+ with an AGP GeForce 6800GT/OC and 2GB of RAM. I think it would run Vista reasonably well (not for encoding HD video, but for daily computing), but I've been afraid to install because I hear the nForce-2 support is virtually non-existant.

Fresh New System - Need to buy operating system - WinXP or Vista

I dunno. I like Vista actually, compared with XP. The Areo effects are nice, and making the OS theme color a deep black I think has a very clean, professional look. And since I'm not pirating my copy of Windows, I'm not too worried about Microsoft deactivating me or deleting software remotely...

Very impressed with my Core 2 Duo system!

I'm extremely happy with the speed of my machine at a mere 2.66GHz (though granted there is an extra two CPU cores at work). The speed of the 2.66GHz processor is simply amazing compared to my other machine - an overclocked AthlonXP 3200+ Barton at a nearly-identical 2.5GHz.

are you moving to 4gb ram for vista?

Free RAM = wasted RAM I'm way good with 2GB in Vista for now (Office 2007, Photoshop Elements 5, Acrobat 8 Pro, Nero 7, Firefox 2, Picasa 2) but will likely go 4GB when I buy my next machine (sometime before year is up).

Anyone know of a good bluetooth mouse to use with a laptop that has bluetooth?
