I know you said no squats/deadlifts, but have you tried high rep sets of them with very light weight? Doing sets of 10-15 reps with a light weight that won't take you near failure still will give you great benefits, and then you can focus 100% on form.
People peak at different ages too. I've found as my metabolism seems to slow a bit through my 20's, my gains get better and better. Tons of healthy food and plenty of good rest is what makes you grow.
If you want to get serious about lifting, then have them show you good form for squat. The attitude and concentration needed for good form on that lift will extend into everything else you do in the gym, free weight or machine.
However, if you are going to get into the power rack and speed...
Agreed that there are cards in stock currently. However, around Thankgiving when many people bought these cards from Dell, vendors were out of stock. If a card was available, it was for that day only. I was referring to cards ordered at that timespan and whether its fair that they are delayed...
They said, "Usually ships 1-2 weeks." Not, "Will ship in 1-2 weeks." When you agree to purchase something with that conditional phrase, you are at their mercy.
They gave people an estimate that some people did get met, and some didn't. And it does seem to be out of dell's control - nobody...
Looking at Call of Duty 4 with AA - its as fast or faster down the entire chart than the 3870. Same with a couple other games used.
That review looked pretty impressive for people running resolutions under 1600*1200 with minimal AA. If the 3870 becomes available and drops down to this price...
I bought it because I think its the best option for the ~200 price point at this point in time, which is what I am looking for. I haven't seen a 3870 or 512 GT below 250 anywhere, except for the dell GT thread which seems to be hit and miss for when you will get the card.
I think its at a usable niche in the market. I'm gaming at 1440x900 and early benchmarks I've seen show its comparable to the 512 GT at lower resolutions, which means it is the same speed or faster than a 3870, for 30 bucks less. There's another thread with the benchmark links.
That's odd, they were just there. I actually placed an order for one. Maybe newegg's filter is being goofy. Here's the direct link to one of them. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...p?Item=N82E16814150263
For people interested in the 256MB version, newegg just posted a couple XFX versions. I've read that today EVGA was supposed to make theirs available but I haven't seen them anywhere.
