it allows the computer to shut down non-essential drives for power comsumption reduction.
some bioses let you play with it,
under device manager, click on the plus sign in front of system devices and you'll find acpi power and acpi system buttons.
unplug ALL non-essential hardware , clear cmos, and power it back it up. make sure that if you have a toggle switch on back that it's on as well as the front power button.
i've come across the same issue with my asus v7700.
everything seems fine, but it locks up every once in awhile.
my wiring in my house is not up to par, so i've purchased an apc ups to clean it up a little.
my next move is to format the hard drive and re-install windows.....
