i forgot to mention that the corp editions do not require you to "subscribe" to virus definition updates or have limited licenses or anything like that. just FYI....

Has anyone seen malware/virii try to disable NAV? I have two computers, both of which have NAV corp edition, but don't seem to be doing anything based on the real time scan stats reporting no files scanned. One computer is v8.x and the other is 9.x. The 8.x machine actually has an "!" over the...

just wanted to throw out another vote for testing the corporate editions of these virus scanners (i know McAffee and Norton/Symantec have ones) - the interfaces tended to be MUCH cleaner, much less in your face, etc. Presumably, they use the same scan engines as the equivalent "consumer"...

ok, so I was trying to play some HL2 today and it was crashing a bit. Started investigating and noticed my AGP bus was at 75MHz according to the NVIDIA system monitor utility despite being set at 66mhz in the bios. I'm not trying to overclock at all. So i turn it back down to 66 via the NVIDIA...

johndurbin - never seen anything like that myself. Doubt it's related. Any flash ads running in any of those windows? i've seen those occasionally take a fair amount of CPU time (but unlike my problem, the windows remain fully responsive, yielding the CPU time to other more important things).

Norton Antivirus, palm desktop, trillian pro, and usually winamp and outlook. although i have verified that it still happens without winamp and outlook and i do remember it happening before i got trillian of any sort (was using ICQ only at the time)

firefox is decent, but not good enough IMHO. like i said, i like some of its features a lot, but IE is still too much faster and seems to render things properly more often. besides, firefox yaks when it has a lot of windows (or tabs) open, especially if they're graphically intensive. safari...
