Why does my Intel based SSD have such slow random read/write performance?

run Crystal Mark as I've seen more results from that benchmark Have you run the Intel SSD Toolbox to TRIM your drive?

$175 OFF Intel SSD 160GB G2

damn if I didn't already own an 80Gb G2, I'd be all over this. Trying to think of a way I can justify it!! Nah... Just spent $240 on my 80Gb last month. :-(

Some people have a crapload of extra software that loads up beside the necessary items. Look in your startup config, and you'll probably see a bunch of autoupdate programs or quicklaunch programs, toolbars, etc for everything you install. Ex's GoogleUpdate, QTtask, Adobe reader SL, etc...

OP you still didn't give details of your system specs. If you put it on a crappy computer, and didn't configure everything correctly that could be part of your problem. Have you benchmarked the drives to make sure they're performing optimally? My computer boots in < 20 seconds. But...

you can install Win7 now with or with out the pulled firmware. The problem everyone had besides a handful of rare cases were all people with Win7 already installed. You shouldn't have any problems reguardless. Just don't install the new (pulled) firmware after you install Win7. Either do...

Bought the wrong SSD - X25-M G1 vs G2

160Gb if you can afford it. Faster write speeds, and you shouldn't outgrow it. I've got the 80Gb G2, and I've got it 1/3 full with out adding all of my usual stuff. By the time I add a few more apps & games, it will be close to full.

Best and Most reliable SSD?

Yeah waiting won't hurt, if you're patient. As SSD's are still in their infancy considering all of the firmware rewrites/revisions from EVERYONE. If you were going to buy right now, I'd say Intel X25-M G2 or OCZ Vertex. That said I got an Intel X25-M 80Gb G2 and am VERY happy with it...

TRIM support for XP

I have the X25-M G2 with Win XP. All you have to do is set up the TRIM tool once. I ran the Intel SSD Toolbox once, then set it to (automatically scheduled) TRIM my drive weekly. It recommends to do it daily to keep the drive performing optimally, but I tested it after a few days and...

Building a new pc , is it worth going to SSD or should i stick with SATA

The way to go right now IMO is to get a 60-80Gb drive for OS and app, then a 1Tb+- drive for your data and anything that won't fit on your SSD. I've gotten spoiled by my system with an SSD. Now its painful when I work on other PC's and have to wait for apps to install, load, etc.. I...

Intel X25 G2 drive supply issue

Me too. I ordered mine a few weeks ago from Amazon and it was actually ANTonline that shipped it. It took a little over a week to get it from the time I placed my order, but considering most places were either out of stock or jacked up prices I was happy with everything overall.

looking for suggestions on SSD

Newegg had the Retail 80Gb G2 for $239 yesterday I think. BUT it sold out and jacked back up to $299. I can't believe that Intel can't keep up with demand. They make millions and millions of chips (cpu/flash/chipset, etc) a month, you'd think they could crank these drives out easily.

Intel G2 80 GB - low performance

You may have some other background apps accessing the harddrive. You're comparing your drive in a used/filled state thats being benchmarked on an older laptop with speedstep probably enabled as your main OS drive with your normal stuff probably already installed, virus scan, firewall...
