Just bought one of these for my wife. They are really...really...nice. If you can pull-off this opportunity, do it. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks to shutrbug for posting. Nice job. :)
Also, if you are using the USB port cable, try the parallel port cable.....or the other way around. Try the new drivers first.
Edit: Be sure to power on the scanner before you boot your machine.
SRman- If you are willing to spend $40, then why don't you do it the right way and purchase one of these:
A Super Card
I have an SB Live! card and the Turtle Beach card. Believe me, the Turtle Beach has it all over the SB card. I can't comment about the other cards in your post.
One thing...
ddjkdg- Look, the chances of you receiving two units that are defective are next to null. Sart over again. Uninstall all your software, open-up your manual, and follow the installation instructions EXACTLY. These drivers can be tricky to install and you must do it the way the manual states...
For those interested, I received my $70 rebate check yesterday. It came as a check with a first class stamp on it. In others words, it was just a flimsy piece of paper, and looked like a check with postage on it.
It doesn't come in an envelope......kinda looks like junk mail, so be careful.
ddjkdg-
I think you have a software problem, not a hardware problem. I have the Visioneer 8900 and have had a similar problem when using the Paperport software that came with the scanner. Whenever I first attempt to scan through Paperport, I get the "unlock" message. Clicking OK doesn't...
For all of you that are considering this card, don't let the overclockers influence your decision. Most people don't overclock. For the money, you really can't beat the performance of this card. I went from a TNT2 to this card and PC games are MUCH better graphically. Everything else is...
succubiss- I believe your motherboard has a 440BX chipset. Before sending your new card back, I would search the Intel site for updated chipset drivers.....especially AGP drivers. This could possibly solve your problem.
amploud- Anything's possible. They could be installing off-spec 5.5 DDR memory, but I doubt it, unless of course they all do it. If word ever got out that Visiontek did this, could you imagine the words coming out of their competitor's mouths? But then again, anything's possible.
The first...
gtd- I'd agree with you.....it really is a price\performance thing. Sure, it's not an 8500, but then again it's not ment to be.
All I know is that my 3DMark2001 more that tripled using all default settings. The test ran smooth, not choppy like my pervious card, a TNT2 32 megs of memory.
I...
aircasper- I'd sell it. There are definitely people out there looking for PCI cards. You may break even on the transaction or it may just cost you a couple of bucks to get the 5632. The DDR memory on this card, coupled with it's over-clocking ability really makes this thing fly....very...
Well, for anyone who's interested, I bought one of those S-Video cables. Got it on EBay for $5 (the last of the big spenders I guess). Anyway, I hooked this baby up to my 27" TV and fired up my Dreamcast. What a disappointment. The colors were all washed-out. It seemed to eliminate some of...
