Competitive FPS on the PC

What's your favorite free FPS?

I would echo the comments regarding Quake Live. It's essentially Quake 3, for free, and plays through your browser. Battlefield Heroes just went live, and though it's played in 3rd person rather than 1st person, it's quite fun as well and also free. It's definitely a more casual experience...

Hopelessly Addicted to PuzzleQuest

I have PQ on both my DS and my PC. Awesome, awesome game. And, added bonus: From what I read on Kotaku today, there's going to be a sequel! I'm also looking forward to another of their upcoming games, Galactrix. It's going to be similar to PQ in that it's a gem-matching puzzle...

Racing Games

getting into online gaming

I think that Planetside is the only FPS that's currently charging a fee for online play. However, as evidenced by the thread on these forums, they're currently doing a one-year-free-trial kinda thing.

PlanetSide now free.

I jumped in with the Reserves program and I recently upgraded to a full account. So yeah, I'm enjoying the game. I'm with the Vanu on Markov, look for me as Alatar. I'm part of the outfit "The Lost Minions".

HAH! Finally rid of WoW!

I think that's how many MMO addictions end. I played Asheron's Call for over 4 years, but the last year I was really only hanging on for the ever-dwindling list of friends I had in the game. Finally I just couldn't take it anymore and left. I played WoW for about five months, starting...

for those of you who played WoW and GW...

I really enjoyed playing Guild Wars until I'd max'd out two characters. I just couldn't bring myself to bring another one through all the missions. I absolutely LOVED World of Warcraft...for about 30 levels. After that it became less fun, more grind grind grind. I quit before I even hit 40...
