maybe this is Vivendi's way of making up the money they're losing on sales on steam? (BTW steam == crap). i don't know ... i'm sure some fancy lawyer within Vivendi has all this worked out.

yea, i know, but i was saying that maybe you couldn't buy it at BB since they're reacting to being sued by Vivendi (the dudes who are distributing the CDs or DVD's of the game)

802.11 xx "ad-hoc" mode

OK, *nix scripting afficionados, can you help me out here?

Unix = HP-UX, shells = ksh, csh and sh. Perl is available, but I prefer not to use that (since I'm not familiar with it). On the other hand, I guess this would be the best way to learn perl. Does this help? Any more info needed?

What program keeps you from being a full time linux user?

An office suit that works right!. By "right", I mean able to read/write word docs correctly (i.e. handle pictures, tables, graphs, and all the extra stuff like that). OpenOffice 1.0 is close, but still not there. "emulating" MSOffice on wine, works mostly (its flaky here and there)

Two linux/Windows questions...

VMware runs OK. If you actually buy it (i just got 30 day demo - BS), it'll run windows fine. Slow, but fine. I don't know about the VIVO functions of your ATI card, though. Best bet is to get the demo and try it out for yourself. I'd use VMware if a) it didn't cry about my RAID drive and b)...

weird problem

What OS are you running? Did you install/change a program? Maybe you should try uninstalling/reinstalling Zone Alarm. Or you could just click ok to allow and "never ask permission in future" option.
