Is this normal to have a built by ati 9800 pro show up this way? I checked the card with the ati utility, and it is showing up there as a 256mb r350 (and the only 256mb cards are either 9800 pro or 9800xt).

Most likely on board will be faster then an average sata card, since it won't be bottlenecked by slow PCI speed.

Upgrade GF3 to FX5600...no improvement?!?!?

On a directx 9 game? Yes, probably. On a directx 8 game? Most likely no, in fact I woudln't be surprised if gf3 is faster then non ultra 5600.
