Thanks. Yeah I had same thoughts as well and tried multiple BIOS versions but issue was still there. I feel it likely has to do with voltage values DELL uses.
I worked around the problem by installing an extra fan in front of the CPU cooler to give it a push / pull setup. This helped a lot, but...
Having and odd issue with SpeedFan where the Fan RPMs do not change at all, but Fan % does change on Auto setting with custom Fan Curve.
RPMs do not change at all until 65%. As soon as the Fan % reaches 65%, Fan RPMs immediately go to the max 5000+ RPMs (going from 65%-100% does not make any...
I'm in a similar situation, also have x58 build that I've upgraded to the max over the years (see signature). I love this platform and can't believe it allowed me to keep it fully functional for my workloads for 12+ years.
As @In2Photos said, if you can afford to wait for AM5, it might be...
It's been a while since I built a new rig and a lot has changed. Need advice picking a good DDR4 RAM kit for my new i9-12900K build, which is the last component I need to pick.
I've decided to go with DDR4 since I need 64GB and a DDR5 kit is just too pricey and wouldn't justify 2-3% performance...
Wow thank you guys for all the replies. I honestly did not anticipate so much useful feedback. A lot to go through and read up on proposed options. Will follow up shortly.
I'm well overdue for a new system and need upgrade advice. My current system specs are listed in the signature, its a battle tested X58 system that's been with me since 2009.
Frankly I am amazed that this platform lasted me almost 12 years. I've done everything I can to upgrade it, maxing out...
Quick update: finally got around to setting this up, figured it would be interesting to share results.
Setup details:
- 2x Cisco SFP-10G-T-80 Compatible 10GBASE-T SFP+ Copper RJ-45 80m Transceiver Modules
- 2x Mellanox ConnectX-2
- Cat6 Plus ~60 meter run (Plus is not an actual spec, rather...
Hello - I'm looking for 10 GBase-T / SFP+ transceiver to connect 2 separate SFP+ switches over CAT6 distance of ~40-50 meters. However I could only find transceivers that do up to 30 meters similar to this product. Does anyone know of any transceivers that can do over 30 meters?
If 30 meters is...
Windows backup was the first option I tried, but quickly found out that host level VM backup w/o VM shut down was not possible. Shutting down VMs isn't really an option in my use case as my network depends on some of those VMs.
