Linux Help Lost my Virginity

i was a virgin to linux till last night when i installed Mandrake 8. its on a Compaq Neoserver that i will be using as an FTP server for MP3's and etc but my linux knowledge only goes as far as logon [username@localhost Username]$ where do i go from here? can u point me in the right direction...

what's the diff. between Mandrake 7.0 and 8.0? should i return 7.0 to exchange for 8?

documentation for linux is good to have i am installing 8 now and i wish i had some docs cause i got problems but ill work em out

Setting Up and FTP server

i have a dedicated computer that i want to use as an FTP server for MP3's and other stuff so i need to choose and OS that will run 24/7 on my DSL im used to M$ but i heard Linux is better for this situation so which version of Linux (I.E. Debian, RedHat, Mandrake, SuSE)or should i stick to Win2k...

Windows 2000 Server missing file

when i try to install win 2k server i get a message saying -txtsetup.sif is missing or currupt setup cannot continue im booting off of floppys since its not a bootable cd
