Simple question: given that newer architectures of the past decade have resorted to data prefetching as a viable option to hide memory load delays (especially given that CPU:FSB/MEM_BUS ratios are ever-increasing); how is prefetching accomplished given the constant ratio changes and therefore...
Interesting! I'd never heard of JPEG2000. However, I wish they would have done a better job of marketing the file format by putting up images of the SAME quality as the source image (which should be a TIFF or a 0% loss JPEG or something similar) and then show the highest compression possible...
Does such a file format exist to date that can rival the compresson as well as the quality of the equivalent new formats in the world o' video and audio (ie. divix, mp3, etc.)?
Sure, JP(E)G is a great format especially at 0% compression setting, but it goes hand in hand with capabilities of...
I am guessing TV-Wonder also has this option... How in the world do you turn OFF the tv-on-demand feature for good on an AIW card??
Even when i am not using on-demand and viewing regular broadcast, CPU usage on my XP1800+ hovers around 50%. when i enable on-demand button to review the last...
I have heard people rave about Panaflo but haven't used any. I've used Enermax thermo control 80mm fans and except for it's ridiculous temp. to RPM ratios, i must admit that they have been very very quiet at default speeds of around 1800RPM. However, I got sick of the lackduster speed and...
I just cut the green thermister away and shorted the wires for the 2 enermax thermo control fans in my case (AMD XP 1800+).
Noise level incresed significantly and temp. delta seems to have dropped down by ~2degC. (@ IDLE: old case/cpu = 26/54; new case/cpu = 26/52)
Is this worth the mod or...
great playa!!
got one on suday at 11am and it was the last one there then!
- played a NTSC DVd without a single glitch.
- put in a VCD (not home made, i think vcd 2.0) and played perfectely.
- put in some mode-2, XA cd-r disks full of folders of mp3s and even they played perfectly
- put in...
@#$%@ that staples guy. i didn't buy the printer from there because both, the box didn't have XP as one of the OSes on it and the guy working there told me he had problems getting it to work with his XP.
putting 1&1 together, i think he was probably trying to avoid any further confrontation...
don't know if anyone has mentioned this before 'officially' but i recently learned (from one of the store-guys who baught the e-210 himself) that the reason these are dropping in price faster than a lead ball, is because they AREN'T compatible with XP (not sure if that means no current/future...
BurnIn Test is a pretty stressful test for the system.
runs (user config.able) 8-10 tests at once. 8-10 spawned windows everything from reading and writing to every single disk /logical partition on disk, optical drives, drawing 2d, drawing 3d, alu and fpu ops, mmx/sse/multimedia ops etc. for...
hmm... return the trusty asus. that's an option if they accept returns after 30 days are up at newegg. besides, i've already jumped the "soyo-dragon-plus-boat" onto the asus boat. sounds like SB live/audigy is the way to go at this point. sucks! (i mean the fact that you pay for a feature...
My modem FW was not useable for win2k. As a result, I updated the FW by starting from scratch <yuck!> and installing win98 since FW update for modem worked in every OS BUT DOS and Win2k!! :| So much for Lucent HW modem staying on top of things when it comes to technology!!
I updated the modem...
Yet another shot at start from scratch... this time not even the modem was put in the system or installed in win2k.
:) :) WITHOUT MODEM, EVERYTHING WORKED FINE AND NO FREEZEUPS!!! FINALLY... :) :)
:( :( WITH MODEM installed, CHAOS! :( :(
Strange!
Now this is the same HW modem that has...
I have a AIW 128 Pro and every time the TV starts/Guide Plus app starts and I click on watch, the TV on demand feature is enabled and eats up about 50-60% of CPU b/c of video capture of live TV.
The button in the ATI TV window that allows you to toggle between review the captured, "on-demand"...
