slow restart

Hey guys, quick question for you. My computer (windows xp) is extremely slow at shutting down and rebooting. It turns of faily quickly if i turn it off as soon as windows starts. But if i let windows run for a while, do some stuff, and then try to restart it takes forever. Probably takes...

Oh, they realesed another new bios huh? I forgot to mention that installing the new bios also helped me with some stablity issues on this board :) I've got mine completely stable now though, i hope you can do the same.

I don't know anything about those ATI cards madthumbs was talking about, but i wouldn't mess with the AGP voltages if i were you. That might fry your Videocard. I always leave that alone.

Hey Laudas, i actually have the same mobo with the same ram and HAD the same problem :). I fixed it by just setting the ram divider to AUTO. That way, the motherboard keeps your ram at or below stock 200mhz. It seems to me that the manual dividers you set in this asus a8v mobo are all jacked...

LT4, Yeah, i actually read that thread, and like Furen said, it didn't really talk about your voltages increasing for some strange reason when you ARE using STOCK multipliers. Which is exactly what happened in my case. Furen, Thanks for the help and understanding exactly what i was saying...

So I've forgotten the default A64 3000 settings...

If i'm not mistaken, to get your ram back to 200mhz you need to have your memory divider set to 1:1, or ddr 400. Thats if you are running your CPU at stock 200*10.

hey, Lt4camss, i did do a search, and nothing specifically adressed my same issue. I actually searched google and didn't find much about cool and quiet automatically "increasing" the voltage above what it should be. I know some people use RM Clock, but i didn't want to have another program...

Hey guys, i had my AMD 3000+ Oced to 2.1 Ghz (235 x 9) and installed cool and quiet. Everything was working fine for about a day, then i checked my temps and i was running at 45C at idle. I was thinking, wow, that is really hot (it was running at 31C when cool and quiet was actually WORKING)...

New to overclocking, need some help and tips...

read Zebos overclocking guide. Since you failed prime95 in under 5 minutes...according to Zebo, you should now multiply that speed by .95 and try again. so 2457 * .95 = 2334. See if that is stable for ya. Also, you need to check out your ram to make sure you arn't overclocking it to...

Man, this thing is starting to tick me off. I"m still getting freezes running at only 2205 mhz with a FSB of 245 *9. I cranked it back down to 240mhz. Anyone know why my system is so unstable? I have the agp/pci lock and i have my hpertransport to 3x. :(

Well, i just used Zebos strategy for maxing my CPU. I didn't actually get the failure in the first 5 minutes of prime, but my system frooze during windows loading when i was at 260 * 9 or 2340 mhz. So now i'm backed off to 245 *9 or 2205 mhz, i asume the system freezing is a good pint to back...
