HWMonitor - TEMPIN2 Temp concern/issue:

On my rig, I don't even register a temp2. Temp0 is motherboard. Temp1 is CPU. Northbridge maybe?

Gigabyte P35 DS3R won't allow me to update BIOS

I think on some versions of bios, you'll find an option within bios that protects the bios from flashing. If that's the case, disable this.

re: Refresh to ACT delay I did some googling and experimenting on this issue a while back. I came to the conclusion that the default is not zero - instead, when you move into manual settings the bios zeros it out and waits for a value. I seem to recall that stability was an issue at values...

Same here. Not always. And it's not immediate. Both the beta, and the new version. I still use it now and again to double check other temps readings in other programs I run. Let me suggest HWMonitor instead. Virtually no overhead, very stable, and it monitors CPU temp, motherboard temp...

Memory recommendations for PK5-E and E6750?

Decent DDR-800 ram can be expected to O/C at least 10%. DDR2-800, running at 440 will give you a more than moderate system O/C of 3.5GHz (see sig.) Point being, you don't need anything more than DDR2-800 with the E6750.

@pancake - of course, you're right - a mistake. Posting under the influence. the E6750 is an 8 multiplier chip - 400 x 8 = 3.200GHz

CPU fan intermittenly stops

Why? I'm betting he's running stock - no O/C whatsoever. PWM is doing it's job. Fan spins when the CPU needs some cooling. Doesn't when it doesn't. If temps aren't running wild, don't sweat it. Instead, turn off the CPU fan alarm. Uncomfortable with that? Try switching fan control to...

Is 3.0Ghz in one C2D the same as 3.0Ghz in another?

The e6750 is a heck of a chip. O/C to 3.2GHz is a dead cinch at stock volts and stock cooling - and cool and quiet at 3.2GHz. Allows a person to run 1:1 ratios (synchronous) on cheap PC-6400 ram. Set ram to 400 (stock), CPU multiplier to X8 (stock) and 400 x 8 = 3.200GHZ. By the time you...
