OT: CA Frys ads?

From what I can tell, the LA ads correlate pretty well to the stores in the bay area. I wouldn't guarantee a perfect correlation, but of the dozen or so things I remember seeing in an LA ad and then seeing at a fry's up here, it's always been the same price.

can you use a microfilter that comes with a dsl modem with a regular dial up modem

digital audio out: are they all equal?

glue to repair speaker??

There are kits that can be ordered to replace the surround completely - the foam surrounds tend to rot (though if yours is really rubber, rot shouldn't be a problem) Apparently the glue can be purchased separately at Parts Expressl. A 6 pack of those acid brushes they list under related items...

Trouble with Abit NV7m - seems to be RAM

Unfortunately I'm not close enough to try it myself anymore, but I'll relay the suggestion to check it. Seems weird that we'd have repeated problems with that one slot over the other but maybe it's just more stiff than the other one for some reason. thanks!

A decent file recovery program for Windows

All the free versions of NT file recovery programs I've seen were pretty cruel - they'd tell you what they could recover if you paid for them, but wouldn't actually recover anything. Also, if you just deleted something you want to recover, probably the last thing you'd want to be doing is...

Trouble with Abit NV7m - seems to be RAM

Thanks for the post, it's interesting to hear that. I have to say we've probably had RAM in and out of the slot a good dozen times, but maybe it's just harder to get it seated in that particular slot for some reason. When you had the RAM in and it wasn't seated all the way, were the tabs on...

Thanks for the reply WW. I did try them both and they seemed to work fine in that one slot. We also tried pulling the board and standing it up on edge on something to check for shorts to the case, no luck there too :( I didn't really notice that slot feeling different than the other...

SPDIF to Coax

This is all goofy - the digital output of the card should all be on one "channel" meaning it only needs two pins a "mono" jack should be all you need, and if it works for 2 channel digital, it should work for 5 channel. I think it's probably just a software setting and if you hook it back up...

Modem/internet reception problem. Plz help.

This may sound like a dumb idea, but have you tried plugging your pc into the phone jack that the kids computer is using? There's an off chance that it's flaky house wiring.

No ideas? I was hoping for someone who had an nv7m (or at least another nforce motherboard) to share their ram experience just so i know there's nothing fishy going on. I am relatively sure that this point it's a bad motherboard, but you never know...
