I kept having the wall fuse get tripped in games with big explosions, even though the PC has a UPS. It was a combination of high GPU power use, bright HDR scenes on OLED and the subwoofer going off all at once. I solved it by running the sub to a different outlet.
I keep classic RTS/4X strategy...
I like the DT880 premium (more neutral) or DT990 premium (more sharp treble) for games at $170-ish. The beyers have great build quality for the price points and the V-shaped sound is well suited for games. I think the TYGR is similar but has a mic. The 32 ohm versions can be run without an amp...
After looking at it more carefully I might just wait for the G5 price drops late in the year. The 165hz refresh rate is worth the extra cost for PC gaming, and the MLA panels have issues with black levels in a bright room.
I was looking at upgrading to a 77" LG G4 with the newer MLA panel. It's amazing that it's actually cheaper than a 5090 despite being a much, much bigger upgrade.
I'm having a great time with Everspace 2. It feels like a next gen Freelancer and is the first space game I have played with well integrated planetary and indoor sections. The 6dof combat feels great and has an interestng world to explore, although the main story is pretty basic and there are a...
This game is hard to get into and needs some persistence. It's a really amazing game but starts off slow and overly difficult, and several people on AT said they gave up on it early on. It does the "show, don't tell" plot better than any other game, but other such games like Half Life were much...
I still have the same one from 15 years ago, X-fi titanium HD. It still has the best headphone output of any source I have used. I use a separate receiver for speakers.
RDR2 has an amazing plot and atmosphere, probably the best I've seen in any game in many years, but the gameplay also feels slow and clunky. I'll definitely want to play the RDR remake though. As you said western games are very rare to begin with.
That is unfortunate. This is still the premier PC VR game to this day. I'm not even that big a fan of Half Life but Alyx is amazing. A flatscreen version would have very different gameplay mechanics and is essentially a different game.
Try playing with the board's PBO settings. I found the MSI PBO presets reduces both idle and load power by a lot, even with +200mhz offset. It does 25W in idle and 70-80W in games.
When I get a card, I want it to work with my entire library of games, not just the latest titles. But as I said hardware physx doesn't work properly as it is in a lot of those old games. I replayed Cryostasis a few years ago and just turned it off. Awesome game btw, very eurojanky but has a...
