Countries with a voluntary military policy, such as the US, do so because they respect the inherent rights of the individual.
Countries who have a policy of mandatory military service are basically saying that the government views every newborn male as nothing more than canon fodder.
I have a small home network with Win2k and two Win98 machines. Every thing was set up and working fine for several months with the Win98 machines sharing the Win2k machine's dial-up modem.
Now, suddenly, the Dial-On-Demand option doesn't seem to work, even though it's checked in the Sharing Tab...

My brother thinks Win98 is the best OS for gaming. I use Win2k because of my dual processor system, but I also find it better for gaming. The only limitation is the very few games that aren't supported under 2k so that I either have to tinker with them to get them to run, or dual boot to Win98...
hehe, I was about to say WTF!! but I kept reading....
Nice use of irony to bring the point home: atheists are in the minority in this country.
Something should be done about all this ineqaulity! ;)
TRP: For the first four points your brother-in-law mentioned, ask him to prove these statements WITHOUT reverting to the Bible as his only proof. Many Christians like to claim things to be fact because the Bible says so. Then, how do you know the Bible is true? Because the Bible says so. This...
Now that you've read the book you should see the movie. John Hurt is just what I had imagined Winston Smith to be. Of course I believe Winston was modeled after Orwell himself so the casting of this movie was supurb.
<< I worked at a computer store for a year and half of the computers that were brought in supposedly contained a virus. I always told them confidently that it wasn't a virus. They always disagreed. >>
I've never worked in a comp store, but I have noticed that the word "virus" is...
How about NONE OF THE ABOVE.
I stopped ordering pizza when I realized how great my wife can make them herself!
On rare occassions we'll order a pizza when she doesn't feel like cooking it herself but between bites we'll be commenting on how second-rate it tastes.
IE 5.5 for me. However, like others have said I keep a copy of Netscape on hand for html code testing.
But most of the time I just get the page looking at least half-way decent under Netscape and then say screw it.
If someone wants to experience the Internet to it's fullest potential then...
This is funny! I've been thinking the same thing. I've been using computers for just as long and never have ran a virus scanner. Okay, well I did run Norton's virus scanner for a day but decided it used up too much resources and got rid of it. Why have a program running that isn't going to do...
I think I agree with KaBudokan's interpretation about the author's comments about Title IV articles.
But let's assume your interpretation is correct about it being the author's political agenda:
So you have identified the author's political agenda. Highlight the passages along with an...
Homosexuality also plays a significant role among the characters. And based upon the opinions expressed in another recent thread, I'd have to say that this movie probably wouldn't be your average Anandtecher's cup of tea. :)
<< Recognizing a particular group with their own day/week/month also helps to de-stigmatize (is that a word?) the group.
There are many people who use homosexuality as a means to judge others, since to a large portion of the US, homosexuality is still seen as being deviant behaviour.
So, by...
FettsBabe and ToBeMe:
Your recent posts address a valid question. One that I responded to several post back.
Why does any special interest group need their own month?
Recognition months/days are times set aside for the media to address issues regarding that group or culture
The point about...
