Thought I would follow up in case anyone has had similar issues.
Indeed, not clearing the nonvolatile RAM (CMOS) was the only source of the problems I encountered installing Raid. Raid1 is in operation, no other issues.
I suspect that many of the strange problems encountered after...
Using 3rd party software for the keyboard LCD screen ?
I looked at one of these at Fry's and thought that the (appearently) painted keys would wear through easily. Any issues with paint this ?
I reset the RTC/CMOS and loaded defaults afterwhich I was able to boot Windows with Sata3,4 ports/drives enabled (but not configured as RAID, yet). As I did not clear the nonvolitile CMOS memory when I flashed the 1009 bios (from 0903), it appears that resetting defaults in the bios does not...
I ended up purchasing a Y-E data drive due to positive recommendations on reliability. It has worked well with no issues. The drive package came with an easily installed black bezel, which I am using in my installation. I purchased the drive from provantage, which also provided fast service.
Have not had a single issue with my A8N32-SLI system...until I tried to get a Raid1/mirror drive pair running. No issues stability or otherwise with bios 903 or 1009 or Win XP running 24/7 for a couple of weeks...then I tried to get a raid1 array going. The only thing I set in the bios is 1)...
I am looking at slipstreaming an XP install with SP2 (starting with my pre-sp1 Win XP pro CD), to get past the partition/disk size limitations created by my original install with XP (127G limit) and then updating to SP2...
Any recommendations using nLite and/or using the RyanVM update pack...
The general advice is NOT to use the acrive armor firewall as some users have experienced problems including corrupted downloads.

The drivers can be found on nVidia's site
SnoMunke,
I suspect that you are running into raid driver conflicts in windows. Are any of your motherboard SATA (or IDE) ports enabled for RAID with the nVidia raid drivers installed ?
Perhaps you have already tested this line of thinking (e.g., reinstalled windows with the motherboard...
Looking at both this and the Asus forum it appears that the 1009 version both fixes and causes problems for the A8N32-SLI Delux.
Anyone have experience/recomendations ?
I have not tested a (8x or othewise) raid card in my A8N32 motherboard. What I was indicating is that the hardware should support 8x (as wall as 1x, 4x, 16x) as lane width negiotation is part of the PCIe specification (in fact, the hardware must support lane width negiotation to be PCIe...
The buffer memory is used to store packets (ethernet frames) from the time they enter the switch from a source port until the packet is forwarded (transmitted) to the destination port. The primary reason there is a buffer at all is the deal with congestion (e.g., when two or more source ports...
Mem, thanks fo the link to the HARDOCP forum thread.
Here is a link to Microsoft Support's problem report (Article ID 896256): Computers that are running Windows XP Service Pack 2 and that are equipped with multiple processors that support processor power management features may experience...
You might want to take a look at this review on Toms Hardware (reviews two PCIe x4 RAID controllers, including the Promise EX8530, benchmarks are Raid 6).
Safer 6 for RAID Controllers
The Areca ARC-1220 controller appears to be a bit of a higher performer (at least for raid 6).
The dual-inline header in the lower left hand corner of your picture (the one with multiple colors) provides a standard 4-pin speaker connection. This header is utilized for the power switch, reset, led indicators, etc where each colored area on the header is a separate function. The manual...
