And another thing, MTAX, for stability and compatibility reasons if you have 1GB of either PC133 or DDR memory, it's better to buy 2x512 MB of memory than 4x256 MB of memory.

Unfortunately, no currently available AMD-processor-based motherboards have four PC133 SDR memory slots. And even if one did, you wouldn't be able to get your system to run at all stable with all four memory sockets filled with modules running at 133 MHz - you'd have to back your memory speed...

Looking for a good dual CPU motherboard w/ Rambus Memory

But those Dell Precision 530 series systems use the expensive Socket 603 Intel Xeon processor. The much more common Pentium 4 processor doesn't support multiprocessing at all, only uniprocessing (single-processsor).

I agree with the fact that Windows 9x - especially Windows Me - is a pile of crap. I'm running Windows XP Pro (Corporate) now. :)

Unfortunately, MTAX, none of the KT266A or KT333 chipset-based motherboards have any SDR memory slots at all. PC133 memory won't fit those DDR memory slots at all. And the only motherboards that still have SDR memory slots tend to use old chipsets (KT133/A, KT266 without the "A", ALi Magik-1) or...

This temp normal?

If you have your P4 Northwood idling that hot, the cooler that you put on that CPU must be really crappy! Even a retail-boxed Intel heatsink will keep that temperature well under that.

Vantec CCK-6035 Copper Heatsink <-- will this fit on my athlonx xp?

The full model number of that Vantec copper heatsink is the CCK-6035D. I have one with my Athlon XP 1600+ CPU and an Abit KR7A-133 motherboard. It should work with your XP1800+. As for compatibility with motherboards, I'd worry only if there are a bunch of capacitors way too close to the CPU socket.

Help!! mobo failing on me??

When someone says "replace the watch battery that provides backup power for the CMOS," he/she means "go out and buy a new one." If you live in the U.S., that shouldn't be much of a problem; most recent motherboards use a CR2032 lithium watch battery, which is fairly common even at drugstore...

K7S5A Help!!!!

I had used an ECS K7S5A for just two months. But when I found that all of its PCI slots share IRQs with something else on the motherboard [PCI1 always share the same IRQ as the AGP slot (IRQ 11), and the other PCI slots and onboard sound and NIC all share the same IRQs as the USB controller/hub...

Help: k7s5a temperatures

UGH! Hot air only rises, so there's no place for that hot air to go but to go screw up your PCI and AGP cards! And your case has no provision for an exhaust fan mounted at the high part of the case without major modifications. And even if you put one in, it wouldn't help much.
