Doomer, You might also check out the BeginnerBikes website. They have alot of reviews for bikes that are good for beginning bikers. Alot of your choice may also depend on seat height, bike weight, etc. The Shadow VLX is a nice cruiser, in your price range, and not bad for a beginner bike...

HYUNDAI Cars any good?

You may want to stay away from older Hyundais, but as for new ones they've tied Honda in the JD Powers survey for quality and are barely behind Toyota. Of course with the kids on this board you'll probably be told how you should buy some BMW 5-series or something. Good Luck!
