AnonymouseUser - ok, that might be the best plan. I'll have to figure out what to use for the rod, and how to fatten up the ends once it is inserted through the hole in the coupling so it doesn't slide out. Any suggestions there?
I just did some googling (for "1/4-20 lead screw" and "1/4-20 power screw" and "1/4-20 allthread") and found all kinds of threaded bars, but none of them had the sliding rod like on a vice where you slide it, turn it with a long lever arm for torque, then slide it and repeat - you know what I mean?
Anyone know what to call this thing that is a bolt with a sliding rod at the end to give you more torque?

I want a 1/4"-20 version of that, but I can't figure out what to call it to search for it.
Thanks,
David
EagleKeeper - moving around a plug is certainly not the same as having it "just work", and putting two keyboards on a desk and having to switch between them is ridiculous in my opinion.
I will look into KVM switches, but what is "SDK permission"?
I have seen Synergy (http://synergy-foss.org/) is an excellent tool for sharing a mouse and keyboard between two computers. Unfortunately I can't install it because I don't have admin rights (Windows 7) on one of the two computers on my desk. Does anyone know of a similar piece of software that...
I have kind of a fabric/nylon mouse pad (one of the ones with the attached wrist rest). It has been fine for years. A few days ago I rinsed it off in cold water and kind of rubbed it with my hand to get some grime off of it. It dried very quickly. Ever since, when I put the mouse on it it does...
I had a Windows XP machine that couldn't boot because of some kind of driver issue, so I decided to format. Of course I wanted to backup my data, so I put the drive in a Windows 7 computer with a whole ton of free space, and decided "eh, I'll just copy the entire drive and go through and pick...
I'm talking about the feature where you can tune to a channel half way through a show and press "Start Over" to return to the beginning of the show.
How does this work? There are only 2 tuners on a DVR, so there is no way all of the channels are being buffered locally. Are they recording...
Nope - he just kept saying "WHO SET THIS UP OH MY GOSH THIS IS SUCH A BAD IDEA IT IS DEFINITELY WHY YOUR INTERNET IS NOT WORKING".
Should I chalk it up as this guy is an idiot and keep running the cable through the surge protector?
I was having some connectivity problems with my cable internet. The cable guy came out to the house and just about screamed at me for running the cable through an APC surge protector before going to my cable modem. That turned out not to be the problem, but am I that crazy for doing this? If...
