it's so old it's pre cd rw era.
so, i am getting a new puter, with the NEC 3520.
i need to buy some media, and have no idea.
any reason to use CDs, or are they a "dinosaur" and yall just use DVDs.
if so, what type? 8x DVD +R?
any help would be much appreciated.

i read the thread, but the specifics exceded my understanding.
what i was looking for is something simple, e.g., on an A64 3200, running stock, how many frames per sec on Half Life 2 at various settings am i goiing to lose running value as opposed to premium ram.
buying a new computer. trying to decide if i should save the $70 and buy value ram.
anybody know of links comparing the effects on performance of otherwise equivalent systems, the only variable being the ram? i figured there would be tons of reviews, but i cant find any.

i want a pci-e motherboard so a couple of years from now, i will be able to put in a video card.
i dont really care about SLI, but i am going to buy it, because its available, and i've been waiting for three months. it wont be the first time i have spent $40 on a feature i dont need.
Here are the components I think I am going to submit to Monarch for them to put together for me. I would like to try building it on my own, but i figure it is worth $49 to weed out defective parts.
I dont really want SLI, but they are now selling the board for $194, and I am sick of waiting...
