cant load windows onto hard drive

What video card are you running? I know that if it's a Geforce 200MX that XP has a problem with it during installation. I've had to use a vanilla PCI vid card to install, then switched to the 200MX once the install is complete.

Problem with "New" GeForce Ti4600

Yeah, me too. I had a Chaintech Ti4200 128mb card that was sweet, but the 4600 was quite a bit faster then. The 4600 is still a good card for DX8 games. It played CS-Source at 1024x768, medium quality settings very well. I'll hang onto if for another project.

Hi All, Just a note to thank you for your suggestions. I did try the Ti4600 in my PC and it worked just fine. I even played some Counter-Strike Source for awhile just to see how it ran on it. After flashing the Giga-byte bios from F6 to F9 the card still did the same thing. So, it seems...

Problem with "New" GeForce Ti4600

The case had a 300 watt generic PSU that had been working fine. I replaced it with a new 420 watt PSU I had lying around and it didn't help.

That's possible. The Ti4600 is a 2x/4x card, but it may not work with this Gigabyte motherboard. I have the mb manual, but it doesn't say much about the agp slot. I expect it's a agp 1.0 slot.

HL2 Crashing after an hour or two of playing...

What sound card do you have? I have the same problem, but mine usually just crashes to the desktop. From what I've read this is a sound card issue. Mine is an Audigy.

Two problems with Firefox

I'm using Firefox right now. Try clearing your cache and set your cookies to "Allow sites to set cookies". Don't know if that will cure your problem, but give it a try.

Norton Antivirus 2005 or AVG Free?

On my desktop I use ZoneAlarm with Anti-virus. It was a 19.95 download. It seems to work just fine for me. I'm running Norton Internet Security 2004 on my notebook.

I've ordered Command and Conquer Generals - what cool stuff should I download for it?

I really like C&C Generals. Zero Hour is a must have. I can't comment on any mods, as I haven't tried any myself. A friend of mine just bought it. We are looking forward to playing each other online.

Video card upgrade for older machine
