I am using PSTN with a 56K V90 modem (Intel MD566X chipset). My phone line has two wall sockets, one at my room (connected to the modem) and one in another room (connected to a normal telephone).
The first time I turn on my modem and dial into Internet, it's okay. After disconnecting it (right...
Hi, newbie here. Can PC133 SDRAM run on 100MHz motherboard? For example, my motherboard is MSI-5184 with VIA MVP3 chipset (supports up to K6-2), current RAM is 64MB EDO and my CPU is Pentium MMX 200MHz. There are two empty 168-pin DIMM slots available.
Thanks and hope to hear from you.
I have an old Pentium MMX 200MHz (with 64MB EDO RAM) and I wish to upgrade my current VGA card (S3 Trio64+) to a working 3D card. I have an AGP slot and I know that it's useless for me to upgrade to GeForce or the like due to my poor PC. So any recommendation of a VGA card that work well on some...
chiwawa, is it true?
I heard from someone that it's impossible, but someone said not sure...
@_@
confusing here...
oh ya, one more thing...
is DIMM compatible with Pentium MMX chipset?
Hi, beginner here. I got an old Pentium MMX 200 PC. My motherboard (MSI-5184) got two 168-pin DIMM slots and two 72-pin SIMM slots. I currently have 2x32MB 72-pin RAMs on it and I plan to add somemore. Can I add one or two PC100 SDRAM on it. Is it compatible with my current RAMs?
Thanks and...
Thanks for all the advices. I think I will go for both upgrades(HDD and RAM).
Many people said that IBM hard disk is better than Quantum. Is it true?
By the way, if I purchased a new UATA/100 HDD, do I need a new type of IDE cable, or I can just stick with Ultra 66 IDE cable that I currently have?
I am planning to make a small upgrade to my home PC, that is, hard disk or RAM, for better game performance. Below is some of my current system spec.:
P3-800EB
Asus V7700 GeForce2 64MB
Quantum CR 13GB IDE (UATA/66, 5400RPM)
128MB PC133 SDRAM
Windows 98 SE
Which upgrade will have significant...
Yeah, I email them last time and got the reply from them. The reply said that for PIII, the temp. is always from 40 - 50C, and they said heatsink fan plays a vital role on cooling (that's all know about). I also ask them is it true that the 815Pro motherboard always reports higher temperature...
I own a P3 800EB on MSI 815E Pro (6337) motherboard. The heatsink+fan is the one comes with the processor, and I have another system fan inside. I found that my temperature shown in BIOS/Windows App. is too high (49-59C). Rumor said that this motherboard report higher temperature compared to...
Which is the best way to apply the grease on the heatsink? Just put a few drops on the center of the heatsink (bottom), or apply it to whole surface?
kmike75:
I put my casing inside my room, against an opened windows... I don't have any extra case cooling fan inside my casing.
Thanks for the replies.
han888 & techs:
I get into the bios and check the temperature. However, it was still the same (around 49C during first boot).
techs:
I noticed that there is a white square 'sticker' below the heatsink when the processor first arrived. Is it 'thermal paste'? However...
I own a Pentium 800EB on MSI 6337 (815E Pro) motherboard and I didn't use any extra fan for my casing and CPU. I use PC Alert III (motherboard monitor program provided) to determine the temperature and I found that my CPU temperature is always 49 (first boot) to 55 Celcius (after running for an...
