  1. Poll: Do you care about ray tracing / upscaling?

Ray tracing atm means nothing to me. But good upscaling tech is useful. I still only play with native res and zero raytracing.
  2. Gen5 NVMe have active cooling

I was on the fence lately if I should get a gen5 ssd, but for the price I don't see the leap in performance and value vs a fast gen4 drive. So I went with the "safer" option (WD Black SN850X).
  3. NV Super refresh reviews

Anytime nVidia does a "Super" refresh I am reminded of how bad that generation is and how it forces nVidia to put lipstick on a pig to generate some hype/sales. The only saving grace is that now nVidia buyers can get 256-bit card starting at $800, LMAO! What a time to be alive.
  4. AMD 7800 / 7700 reviews

I think that the 12GB framebuffer will be of high importance this time around for people looking at getting the RTX 4060Ti or 7700XT. RTX 3050 and RX 6600 were both 8GB cards, but now that 8GB ain't looking too good no more.
  5. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

8GB really did make sense from 2016-2020, but after that the writing was on the wall. Shameful of nVIdia for gimping the base 3080 with 10GB... Cutting corners for the "flagship" ampere card that now can't hang in vRAM intensive scenarios against the base RX 6800 non XT should be a warning sign...
  6. NV 4060 / 4060TI reviews

The worst x60 release since the GTX 960 IMHO.
  7. Question Is 10GB of Vram enough for 4K gaming for the next 3 years?

I don't know, but 10GB of vRAM for next gen enthusiast level card in 2020/21 seems low to me. I don't see why nVidia couldn't give the 3080 12 GB and a 384-bit bus. They may just release a 3080Ti in the future with a slightly cutdown shaders compared to the 3090 and with 12GB.
  8. Why can't AMD overtake Nvidia?

For many PC gamers AMD is the best choice for the money. Sure they don't have some epic Halo product that 1% of PC gamers can afford, but Radeon is alive and well, doing its job (and doing it well) in countless gaming PCs. And going by what Ampere is rumored to cost, nVidia is going to have to...
  9. Question Show and tell: Your all time favorite gpu?

Sorry for the late reply! It held up very well, I had it in my system for about 3 years before replacing it with a Sapphire HD 5770 1GB "Vapor-X", which was a big step up in performance and cost me less than the 9800GT. And I even sold the 9800GT for a fair amount, making the upgrade path a...
  10. Question Help choosing a 1080P monitor under $200

The prices must have skyrocketed due to demand? I remember it going for around $200-250 a couple of months ago.
  11. Question Show and tell: Your all time favorite gpu?

Probably the first GPU I had in my first build back in 2008 as a senior in high school. The legendary 8800GT/9800GT! I have great memories maxing everything out on 1280x1024 (except for Crysis) back in the day. Prior to that I played on some lowly integrated laptop GPU (don't judge me!). Going...
  12. Question B550 chipset, so AMD joins the dark side after all.

As much as I see the point in them "going back on their promise", original Ryzen owners who bought a X370 or B350 board had the ability to upgrade their IPC up 30 percent from Ryzen gen1 to 3, which is something Intel owners could only dream of. AMD is in the business of making money, and so...
  13. Question VA panel recomendation

This might do the trick: https://www.amazon.com/AOC-24G2-Frameless-Adjustable-Guarantee/dp/B07GD5XG5G/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=aoc%2B144%2Bips&qid=1588694032&sr=8-1&th=1
  14. Question Help choosing a 1080P monitor under $200

If you are an image quality stickler like me then TN is just painful. Once you go IPS or heck even VA you will never want to go TN again. This AOC is perhaps the best in its class...
  15. Question F390 Is this monitor trash?

If it is a TN panel then I would skip it, also I don't think a curved display at only 24 inches is really worth it. It has freesync but only up to 60hz which I don't believe is as desirable as the freesync window is most likely 48-60hz. If you have an AMD card then perhaps this could be a good...
