Hey guys thanks very much! I'm POSTing from it now (see what I did there?)
I pulled all the USBs, and reseated the video card (just because). It POSTed to Windows. Then I plugged in all the USBs, video and sound connectors and I'm up.
Still kind of concerned, never had that happen before...
No it just hangs there. Pressing F2 or anything wont get me to the BIOS. Hmm unless the keyboard isn't being read I guess. But it's not even making it to the set up. I guess I could try another keyboard just to be sure that's not it. But if the SSD got trashed I'd still be able to hit the...
My build had been working well for the past few months. It's now hanging at the ASUS motherboard splash screen that says "Republic of Gamers" with the logo... and the "Press F2 or DEL to enter setup"
Is this definitely a Motherboard issue? Meaning it's obviously got power, but it's not...
Thanks for all the help here folks. I really do appreciate it!
Here is what I ended up with:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor ($323.89 @ OutletPC)
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler ($34.89 @ OutletPC)...
Well I just pulled the trigger on an MSI version of the GTX 1080. Newegg had it for 504.00 before tax and I just said screw it and hit the buy button. Everything else is not well reviewed, or out of stock, or over 600 bucks before tax. Nope. Hell the 1070's are going for over 500...
Wow I didn't realize the 1080 Ti was that much faster.
So here's a question.... can I buy everything but the Video Card and try and make my old GTX 570 hold me over til the prices drop? Would I even see any performance increase from my old 2011 Sandy Bridge i5 - 2599k build to this...
Yeah just to be clear, I'm not mining. I just want to play XCom 2 and Witcher 3 =p
Damn. Well ... .I'm probably just going to hold my nose and pay 550 or whatever for a 1080. Just bad timing but my other PC is kinda on it's last legs.
It's really crazy right? I go on PCPartPicker every day and search the GTX 1070 or 1080's. Out of stock or crazy high prices.
What about this 1070 for 450 bucks. It's 100 bucks cheaper than any 1080 I can find

Gigabyte -...
I've read all about the bitcoin and etherium mining so I get it... supply and demand.
My question is what is a reasonable price for a 1070 or 1080 right now?
All I see are 1080's for 600 and up. 1070's are at 450 and up. 500 for the better reviewed ones.
That's if they are in stock at...
So really my only questions are:
Motherboard: Ignoring overall budget what is a solid motherboard for under 200 bucks.
Wifi: If the motherboard doesn't have wifi what is a connection that can handle gaming. Under 100 bucks
RAM: Again ignoring overall budget what is a quality set that is...
Elite this is very helpful!!
Ok I had come up with this... and decided to go ahead and up the budget a bit so let me go over this now that I've seen your post. Here's what I had come up with on my own:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: Intel - Core i7-7700K 4.2GHz...
Thanks Elite, I definitely appreciate the help. I'm going to stick with Intel but I'm going to look over your other components now. I'm kinda stuck on a video card and some other stuff. I see the M.2 SSD coming up... I'll have to do some reading on that. Looks like it's not much more...
I saw this post in another thread, this was super helpful:
That lead me here: https://pcpartpicker.com/guide/hsgXsY/excellent-gaming-build
So I'm checking that build out.
Can someone give me a quick recommendation or thoughts on the motherboard? That seems to be where I get stuck the...
Hey all, I've built my own PC's in the past but it's been a while now. I'm out of the loop. So if things have changed and I'm better off with a pre-built PC fill me in hah.
I'm looking for something powerful, but a good value that will last me at least 3 years or so.
$1500.00 US budget...
Thanks I will check that out!
On the Inspiron though it has integrated graphics, can you add a card? I have no experience with that. I assume you'd just disable the onboard?
