E6400 or E6600

Well put. My goal was to get the best OC for my money, since I am a married man money is tight :) It is, however, encouraging to hear that the newer 6600's are getting better results. That being said I have no regrets getting a 6300. I have been running at 500MHz FSB 24/7 for almost 2 months...

Sounds like an issue with your MoBo. I had high hops for the AB9 Pro. I assume you have updated your BIOS to the most recent and you are running XP Pro SP2. Make sure your drives are properlu configured in your BIOS, also make sure that your IDC controllers are sdet to Ultra DMA and NOT PIO...

E6400 or E6600

Without a doubt go with eiter the 6300 or 6400. I have a 6300 OC'ed to 3.5GHz http://www.smokedog.org/500MHz/oc.html You can not beat the 6300 for the money! If you are strictly looking for the best OC stay away from the 4meg cache procs.

When you factor in the superb overclock'ability, you really can't beat the price to performance of the E6300. This is by far one of the best systems I have ever built. P.S. I too wet my pants when I discovered how easy the OC was. :P

FYI: At 3.2 on my 6300 I was running stock voltage. It was going past 3.2 that required bumps in voltage.

Gigabyte DQ6 and E6600 OC'ing

Gigabyte only certifies this board up to PC6400 (DDR2 800), BUT the board does support PC8000 (DDR2 1000) and PC8500 (DDR21066). I think you can even run the new PC 8800 (DDR2 1100), but I do not know for sure.

Yes we have the same mobo (Gigabyte DQ6 F3 BIOS). To access the custom RAM settings press Ctrl-F1 inside the main BIOS screen. Then when you enter the M.I.T section you will see the now visiable RAM settings. This is byfar one of the best OC BIOS I have seen! You get great granualarity when...

As I have said many many times the 965 chipset isvery picky about memory. I am using the Corsair 6400C4 running at 1000MHz @ 5-5-5-15. It runs like a champ at 800MHz @ 4-4-4-12 as well. :)
