WinXP - Automatic Updates not downloading

I had this problem last week ... re-running Windows XP SP1 seemed to solve the problem. I also deleted the Windows Update folder. Good Luck.

Knology Cable

I'm on Knology in Montgomery, Alabama ....use the 3COM cable modem that they provide ... looks like a shark fin. I checked on buying one, rather than paying the monthly rental, but decided to stay with the rental. No problems, always on and fast enough for my modest needs.

Using Access97 with Office XP Pro

Help: I will soon be receiving a PC with Office XP Pro (fully) installed .... including Access2002. The problem is that I will need to update/edit Access97 databases on this PC .... and I cannot simply convert to form Access97 to Access2002 since after I am through with the Access97 db others...

Could a bird fly to the ground safely after being dumped from a 30,000 ft (or higher) elevation?

Lack of oxygen would kill the bird ...if that did not do it the subzero temp at 30k probably would ... if those 2 things were not enough, the aerodynamic forces experienced by the bird when it opened its wings would probably tear it apart.

Tracking Shares on NT4 Network

We have had an outbreak at work recently where Win9X workstations have had folders/drives shared out and apparently read by non-owners/unauthorized persons. The workstation owners have claimed that they did not create the shares on their workstations. Sounds very nefarious! It would be handy...

Yes ... you just need the boot image to boot the CD ... the Ghost program handles putting the image (from the CD) onto the drive.

Norton Ghost and Windows 2000

If you have the most recent version of Ghost (Ghost 2001) you can boot off a floppy that has the Ghost executable file on it and send the image directly to the CD writer, provided that your CD writer is supported by Ghost ... check the Symantec.com web site to see if your burner is supported...
