dir 655 bridge mode or not?

I had this, and after checking with tech support and getting no satisfaction, I'm trying other routers. FWIW.

Wireless bridge?

That's a nice g solution. Anyone have an n-solution they like? Supposedly the new Rosewill routers will do wireless bridging. I've been futzing with two of them for most of the day to no avail, though. Can't seem to find a decent FAQ on doing this, and there's nothing in the docs on it.

Cloning an XP Pro config to an XP Home install--possible? Advisable?

I have already been working with Pro on the main machine--if there were a way to downgrade rather than upgrade, that would be perfect...but I doubt there is one...?

Restoring and repairing w/ XP home is an interesting idea, thanks. I'd just be worried that this might cause subtle problems later--that's really the only reason I hesitate...anyone have more info on this or tried it?

Thanks egale, I know that's the ideal. I'm just wondering how much performace boost I could expect, to see if it's worth the hassle and expense of upgrading. My 2 pc2100 sticks match, so I'm getting dual-channel already.

Budmantom, I don't have the two sets of ram, otherwise I'd bench 'em myself. :) egale, it's a P4 2.4 processor, 800 mhz bus.

Performance loss running PC2100 vs PC3200 DDR on a Dell 865 MB?

I have 2 matching Crucial 512 meg sticks, and a Dell 4600 Dimension with 800mhz FSB. The system runs fine with PC2100, but can't be OC'd, so the RAM will only run at 266mhz. What kind of performance penalty can I expect? Any links to articles examining this subject? TIA, Dave

Can't get high-speed transfers from USB 2.0 pen drive?

Thanks Peter, Does anyone know of a list of devices that meet this compatibility standard? I'd think most of the newer ones would, don't see a mention of this on the Sandisk website.

Jeff7, I didn't realize bootability was a function of the pen drive...I thought it had to do with the bios...? Am I wrong about this?

Thanks for the replies, much obliged :) stevewm and AndyHui, I just tested its READ speeds, and sure enough it took only a couple of seconds to copy a 13 meg Quicken file from it to my hard drive...so read speeds are indeed much better. Peter, I belive this is rated "high speed"--it's the new...
