But, I think the low price was one of the reasons that lead to the discontinuation of the 2209WA. The demand was so high that the panel manufacturer couldn't keep up with it. Of course, if that were true, then it would have been smarter to bump the price until the supply and demand curves...

According to: http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19283170.aspx it looks like Dell might have actually discontinued the 2209WA. Hard to believe since it's so new and (from the material I've seen around the web) so well received.

Has anyone heard anything about Dell discontinuing the 2209WA? Since yesterday, Dell's product page has basically said there's no such thing. Searching and browsing their site also results in nothing.

I bought this for the wife. It can't hold a candle to my NEC 20WMGX2, but I'm very pleased with it. The colors, brightness and backlighting are all excellent. She doesn't do any twitch-type gaming, so I can't say too much about response time. But, we haven't noticed any lag in applications...

Assuming I've got the right Ergotron LX stand (the 9.1 kg weight limit agrees), it looks like it should support the HP (7 kg), but probably not the BenQ (10.2 kg). They both use the standard 100x100 VESA mount, though: Ergotron LX & HP LP2465 and Ergotron & BenQ FP241W It looks...

A lot of sites give you the ability to adjust the display for wide-screen. Try to see if something like that exists. Also, try CTRL-+ to zoom the browser display in a bit. Depending on how it's implemented, that should move the borders out and reduce those margins.

If memory serves me, I believe the BK just means "Black." Of course, I thought this monitor only came in black... The only other option on the model name that I know of is the "SV" which is for the SpectraView calibrator.

Well, as Tolkien said: My guess is that the parts for televisions and computer monitors all come from the same few companies and they want/need to standardize their offerings. Since 16:9 is the proper aspect ratio for television, that's what they're standardizing to.

I just wanted to add my 2 cents worth on the refurb bit. A couple of months back, I bought a refurbished NEC 20WMGX2 from Directron. Visually, the monitor is flawless. The one problem I have with it is that when the screen blanks during standby, its power supply (or transformer or whatever...

thestain, Some things to try: Bring up the 20WMGX2's menu and go to the Tools tab. Have you tried moving the OSM Position? Also, you could try changing the OSM Turn Off value. If the blurb is about screen resolution and not input source, you could also try turning off the Resolution...

The driver (inf and icm) for the NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2 on the NEC site is dated 09/27/2005 and is not digitally signed. When I try to use this one under Vista x64, it complains about the lack of signature and if I then try to update the driver, it goes back to the Generic PnP Monitor driver...
