USB ports unstable behavior

coming back to this thread after taking a cheap, fast measure. Unplugged everything from mobo usbs and plugged all devices on a PCI USB add on card. The "device can perform faster" message was gone, but problems came up again with absolutely RANDOM disconnections especially over my external usb...

Yep, problem comes up on all ports, even the side case ones, that are based on a seperate motherboard position. My guessing and googling so far has driven me in two paths - PSU and dying motherboard which both cause some kind of electrical instability...but cant say I am certain...

Strange memory clock speed issue

So, you think that Club3D simply followed nVidia's AGP bandwidth limitations recommendation and slowed the card down. Thing is that every attempt to OC, fails even when raising the mem speed by 50Mhz...That's why I talked about 1,4Ghz memory chips that failed to validate... In case you didn't...

Hmmm.....I don't know, I always thought that AGP limitations had to do with power supply to the card, that's why some are equipped with an additional PSU plug on the PCB. My card doesn't have that either but how is power supply needs related to memory speed? Besides, how did Leadtek manage to...

Yep, that's it! SATA will be my choice and the Samsung S183A is a great drive indeed - DL, DVDRAM support @ 12x speed read/write, SATA. There is a lightscribe edition as well, S183L but let it be...Maybe when lightscribe draws in full colour in 10 minutes' time! (maybe never that is...!) Thanks...

Are there issues with using a SATA hd as the boot drive?

I have the same situation here and been reading a lot about SATA and the lack of native support in Windows XP even with SP2 but all "googling" refers to the case of a clean install on a SATA drive (pressing F6 for loading the drivers from a floppy etc.) How about the right procedure steps when...

May I add that buying a SATA optical drive is a plus in a long term prospect, since IDE controllers will be sooner or later totally phased out from mobos like serial, parallel and PS/2 ports? After all, I think that using lightscribe is a really heavy load for the drive's laser and I am too...

It's high time I decided to dig into the DVDRW market since my DVD ROM rests in peace, I ve never been a movie enthusiast + backups were always taken on an extra HDD. Question is, my DVDRW apart from being dual layer and capable of using DVD RAM discs, should it better be lightscribe enabled...
