Why does the truth have to hurt so much? If people would just leave emotions out of their buying decisions, they would be better off. That way when a product comes out and it doesn't perform as they thought it would, no big deal, just buy something else.
I truly don't understand the rationale...
Thats kind of what I was getting at. It might have helped AMD if they had went ahead and shown Intel the performance months ago, prior to the announced price cuts on SB. Not to mention the 2700k. Would Intel have even announced that if they knew this was coming?
Actually I am sad for AMD right now. I don't consider myself a fan of either company. Unlike some people, I don't suspect that either company really cares about me. They care about shareholders. To that end, I buy what I need when I want it and from whomever. Lately it has been Intel. For some...
The funny thing is that comments from AMD earlier were that they weren't revealing the launch date or benches early due to giving their competition a leg up. Seriously? They had to know months ago how bad this was going to be. As if Intel would see how great it was early and have to respond.
This may sound stupid, but have you verified that the fan is spinning? Maybe the fan has crapped out.
Nevermind, I see that you verified that the fan is working. Then definitely you need to get some new paste and try again.
Agree. I am in the same boat as I am about ready to update my rendering farm again. I have waited to see how BD performs before making a decision. If BD doesn't keep up, then the decision I had already made--to go with 2600k's, will be what I do.
Although to be honest, I generally don't...
IF the results we are seeing are truly indicative, then AMD really chose the wrong marketing approach--for informed users anyway. Obviously the idea of a module is new to most of us, so perhaps they didn't know how to market it that way.
However, their choice to market it by the number of cores...
Although I know you don't have specific knowledge of AMD's problems at the moment. I do appreciate your insight to the specific problems that can arise with this complex process.
When you mentioned the Houston fab, if you don't mind if I ask, what company do you or did you work for?
Thanks...
IF THESE ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF FINAL PERFORMANCE
Only score I am interested in is the Cinebench score. I have a small rendering farm that needs updating and I run Cinebench and Lightwave daily. If these are real, I am not too impressed. The Cinebench score at stock is barely better than the...
Couldn't agree more. Fanboys are the worst part of this hobby, and every other hobby for that matter. Brand loyalty is just silly. Buy what you want at the price you want. I have owned AMD and Intel pretty much equally over the years. Same with Nvidia/ATI(now AMD).
I think insecurity is the...
We put up with that in exchange for the latest games. Actually I dual boot and I have gotten some games to work ok using WINE. But, nice to see another Linux user either way.
