Dell - upgrade to 3 yr mail in service + 3 yr complete care for $230

If the laptop has to be sent in for repair just once, it will end up costing me $150. I intend to carry around thiis laptop in my backpack daily.. to school, to camping trips etc.. So, I do need the security in case I end up doing a serious damage. Note that $230 is not just for extending the...

Nope.. it doesnt cover damage by fire. In fact, no complete care warranty (not just dell.. but also any of the stores).. covers damage by fire.

No. This is not YMMV. The CSR told me that this is an offline discount, not advertized online. And the CSRs can make an offer to throw in this deal if the customers are bargaining or are looking for that *little extra push* towards making the purchase

Just got a call from Dell. I had purchased an inspiron 8500 last week. Today I got a call from Dell offering me an upgrade to 3-yr mail in service + 3 yr complete care for $230 + tax. If you do this upgrade at the time of the purchase, it costs $320 + tax. So, it is a savings of about $100...

You can buy upto 2. Buy two, and it comes to $3.50 per hands-free. I would say that this is a nice deal. I had purchased Jabra hands-free from COMPUSA sometime back. It was free after a rebate of $20. So, after tax and the cost of postage, it came to tax on $20 + 0.37 = 1.76 + 0.37 = $2.13.

Last week, there was a Kingston 128 MB memory deal at Best Buy ($4 after rebate). The rebate for that is also going to New Rochelle, though it is a different offer number. Is there a problem, if I do both the deals.
