Recommendations for a decent wireless router?

The V4 is a flashable router. For a list of firmwares and a good information tool overall, try www.linksysinfo.org. I use the HyperWRT firmware on my WRT54GL (which is identical to your router) and I couldn't be happier. Best of luck to you. Deception

Router Shopping

Linksys WRT54GL The "L" stands for linux, so it can be flashed with third party hardware. It also has double the memory of the GS so it will outperform under load. This is essentially a re-branded version of the earlier WRT54G v2 ~ 4 routers. Should be about 70 bux @ Newegg and Zipzoomfly...

What are you talking about? This product is considered a paper launch, because it was reviewed before the item was found in retail/e-tail channels. Compare this to the 7800 lineup, which is a hard launch because it was available for sale the day reviews appeared. Let's re-tally the score...

No matter how much some argue, drivers are a matter of preference. Simply put, some people will perfer NVIDIA's drivers; others will prefer ATI's. Dug, you have a right to think that ATI makes better drivers (of course), but it's a real waste of time making a thread tryig to argue your case...

Good article. What's particularly notable is that the performance between the ATI/NVIDIA cards is very competitive, unlike the demo. Also, what's interesting is that they not that games run better on the NVIDIA cards. Anyhow, the most important thing is that the performance is acceptable...

Honest to god question about the R520

Those efficiency tests mean absolutely nothing. Who cares which one is faster pipe for pipe (and etc)? The bottom line is that each card comes with different features & specs, so underclocking cards to compare 'apples to apples' performance is entirely moot. Deception

ATI cards typically rely on clock speed to bring about their performance. In recent generations, NVIDIA cores usually run at slower clock speeds when paired up against comparable ATI cards (like 6800 Ultra - > X800XT as an example). Anyhow, ATI probably went 90nm so that they could continue...

As they said above, these scores lend no credibility whatsoever. This is nothing but ATI marketing at best. The NDA is lifted in a few days; why can't we just wait then for some OBJECTIONABLE results? Deception

I think you missed the point of the example. I was simply alluding to the fact that 3D Mark scores are not always representative of real-world gameplay. Yes, I agree that 3D Mark 2001SE is more CPU dependent than 03/05, but it still goes to show that synthetic benchmarks are not always...

A Few things to note here: First of all, ATI cards have typically taken the lead in 3D Mark 05, whereas NVIDIA cards usually hold the crown in 03. Take the x850XT/6800 Ultra; the x850 usually scores several higher points in 05, but the Ultra typically shines in 3D Mark 03. To anyone familiar...
