Don't know much about cameras but what can I get my mom for her Birthday on April 26 th ?

Nikon DL series still not released....

I didn't pre-order the 24-85, but was really looking forward to it. Now I'm wondering what will see the market first, the LX200 from Panasonic or the Nikon DL options. I guess it is not so bad to keep my money in my pocket a bit longer. :)

Lens for shooting football pics from stands

I never had an issue using 55-250 at full zoom with an OVF, and I am not some expert shooter. Different story with super-zoom cams with EVFs, where you are getting out to 600mm+.

Adapter for External BR/DVD player

I just removed my BR/DVD drive from my dead PC. It has SATA power and data connections, 15 and 7 pin. I'm looking for an adapter that will allow me to power the drive and connect via USB to other devices. I see options that are meant for HDDs or SSDs, but not specifically for BR/DVD drive...

I agree with those saying that the 55-250 will do a nice job in good light. I had the older model and the 70-200/4, and sold the 70-200 because the size and weight were not worth the gain in IQ. As for IS, I don't think you need it for sports. Assuming you are shooting at 800+ shutter speed...

Baseball Mogul can be interesting and addicting. You run a franchise, design your stadium, set prices, sign free agents and draft prospects, but you can also play games down to the pitch level. Historical players back before Babe Ruth iirc. They usually have a new version for each baseball...

Need Camcorder Recommendation

definitely go with a unit that has external mic option. big upgrade to your audio, which seems critical for your use. In the $500ish range I'm not sure the quality and performance differences are significant. I'd just search for the features you want. Sony, Panasonic and Canon are all very good.

iPods still too small.....

I've embraced Pandora and not having to decide which song/artist/album to listen to. But I get the issue. How about an SD card slot? Or, better yet, a mini-disk slot. I could get that lost format out of the closet and be set. :)
