Intel "Haswell" Speculation thread

Not...They've play this trick on Sandy Bridge, where no extra space is required for the AVX compared to Westmere for the new register file system and a new front-end. Although I have absolutely no idea where and how much other small improvements can be made this time.

In what Intel CPU generation will 8 cores be introduced?

That's not a problem on desktop as long as Intel provide them at a more friendly price, which is definitely not a problem as they are quite good at manufacturing, unlike GF. Also NVIDIA's GPU was and will continue to be a good partner of Intels CPU on desktop market untill Skylake release.

Xeon Phi

A real GPU requires something more. Especially for LRB's SW rendering method - only tex use FFU, while there's a lot FFU in Fermi/Kepler/SI Maybe the don't want to do it now but they should in the future

Xeon Phi

Well this time you may should compare with GK110...... BTW, it seems that Xeon Phi has a quite good efficiency(65%, greater than ALL NVIDIA-accelerated HPC, which are at nearly 55%), with a performance / power greater than 1000 (Only some 2090 and Power BQC HPC reach this point)

That's no ture, at least in Windows. The memory scheduler in Windows is organized as, the amount of data I transfer from HDD/SDD to your memory is based on how much free space you've got in you RAM. For instance, If I open like 10IE Tabs. It might take up 3GB mem in total of 8GB. But on a...

I think nether would be true. OpenCL is design to use JIT to make most modern CPU or GPU can run OpenCL program

AVX represents a simple vector way by applying it to normal x86 CPU to enhance theoretical performance. OpenCL can use it but mostly OpenCL refer to the way the nonhomogeneous way AMD use.

AMD adds server horsepower with 16-core chip

However Intel's 2P server with relatively higher RAS features is nearly at the same price of the AMD's 4P server....And of course AMD has better performance in this situation and, I guess, RAS features that's better than which in E5 series(but absolutely inferior to E7).

Why didnt intel use HT on the QX series?

It was there, just not that suitable...for a chip with relatively shorter pipeline and not too much time & don't want take the risk to implement HT on it..

They have...I guess Its just like the term pipeline length has been kind of abandoned by them for which in modern CPU varies from different application.
