Hi, I love my 6809. Lately, however, I find that when the fan turns on (presumably a cooling fan for the system or cpu...I can't tell), the machine turns completely off...poof! It happens on a sporadic basis, either on battery power or ac power. I'm not sure what it is...some kind of short...

My friend in Brooklyn NY picked up one at the officemax. It was in the right box and everything. He opens it up and it has a beige faceplate and is only a cd-rw. Strange.

Picked up a 6809 yesterday from best buy. both rebates are in effect. Tax in NJ was 6% or $99. I'll get the warranty from emachines. So far this machine is great. It's my first laptop since my Gateway Solo (original) with a Pentium 90 and 10.2 inch screen. I paid $4000 in 1995. Amazing...

eMachines offers extended warranties on their website. It looks like a 2 year is $109 and a 3 year is $189. I'm just not sure if this applies to notebooks purchased at BestBuy or ones purchased directly from eMachines.
